LEE CONSULTING ENGINEERS -- c~r'llL~, FrIUN'DATIrlN~, AND MAT~'RIAL~; -- AFFILIATED WITH August 16~ 1962 \VO No. 4551 Mr. Matt Formenfo Box 41306 Spenard. Alaska SUBJECT: Percolation Test - Lot J3~ Block D~ Rolling Hills Estates Dear Mr. Formenfo: A percolation fast was performed in fha excavation next fo fha perforated concref~ distribution unit on 16 August 1962. The soils tog percolation date and approximate loceflon of fha fesf are shown on fha attached sheet, The percolation rate was I inch per 3 mlnufeso You will note fhaf fha percolation test does not ret|ecl fha soils ~xposed in the sides or bottom o~ the excavafton~ but rather a strafe which begins af ~pproxtmafelv 6 inches below fha present bottom and extends ~f least another 4 feet in fha spot fast drilled. The soils exposed in the trench sides and bottom may be ¢×p¢cfed fo have a Io.~ rate of percolation. No Indication of fha wafer fable wes noted fo the fatal depth exposed. ~e recommend that you ask fha chief sanitarian tf if would not suffice fo deepen fha excavation fo fha clean sand and backfill with a clean granular soil within the limits of present excavation. Ground wafer conditions~ soils, and percolation rates as reported Indicate fha conditions existent af the specific time and Iocaflon fha test was performed. ~¢ cannot predlcf the conditions ~hich may exist af any other flm¢ or af any other location. Very truly yours~ ADAMS o CORTHELL · LEE HRLJsmb l~onald H. Pe~uer,
