Municipality of Anchorage, Dept. of Health & Environmental Protection Pouch 6-650 Anchorage, Alaska 99502 Gentlemen: Thank you for advising us of the availability of public sewer system in your letter of July 12, 1.977. We will certainly make use of this at first opportunity. When our home was built seven years ago, the sewage lines inside the house leading to the septic tank were all sloped to the North of the house. The septic tank is located North of our home. The public sewer, you will recall, is located on the Southern borSer of our property. These interior sew- age lines will all need to be re-plumbed to slope South and then a new entry dug beneath the South end of our home as well as pipe laid through the front yard. We have ten weeks remaining in 1977 to do this outdoor work and obtain a plumber for the rest. We ask your patience with us on this and your permission to do this hook~up in the 1978 season. By allowing us this temporary delay, you will provide us with the necessary time in which to procure the Plumber and other workmen needed. Also it would allow us to set aside the funds for this major project. A rough estimate Js $4000.00 to $5000.00 to complete the re-plumbing and hook up. Please advise us of your feelings in this important matter. According to the Municipal Code of Ordinances "Sewage Disposal Practices, Chapter 15, Article 15.65, Section 15.65.030: Septic tank seepage system disposal facilities shall not be used or installed where sanitary sewers are available. " " Sanitary sewers are available to a parcel when that parcel bord~r~ a right of way or easement containing a municipal sewer main and when the main extends t least ten feet inside a perpendicular line drawn from the sewer main to any corner of the parcel which touches the right of way or easement." The Municipality of Anchorage Department of Public Works has checked their records and they indicate that your structure(s) is not connected to the sanitary sewer. Would you please check your records to verify 'that the structure(s) is or is not connected and notify us immediately if your records indicate that a connection has been made. If we do not hear from you within seven (7) days, we will assume that our records are correct. We, therefore, request you connect any and all structures located on the subject property to public sewer by the end of the 1977 construction season.
