We propose to install two shallow trenches with sand filter to serve the existing 4-bedroom residence. The design is based on the recent test hole conducted on April 22, 2021. Groundwater was observed at 7.5 at test hole excavation and at 6.5 (4/29/21) & 7 (5/2/21) at monitoring. The existing tank is and has been protected for some time with beams and railroad ties and 1-2+ of mounded dirt. This has and will protect the tank from being driven over. The slopes are moderate at 0-5% at the proposed upgrade location. The lot and area are served by private water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties. Five major Pleistocine glacial advances along the consequent or subsevDant lacustocine and alluvial deposits greatly influenced the present topography of the area. The surficial geologic unit of the site appears to be part of the Peter's Creek Fan as it worked through the late Pleistocine lateral moraine deposits. The till of this deposit is commonly sandy and stoney with dales and boulders cam -on. Pebbles and sand predominate but silt and rock dust are present to provide a binder for some soils. Cobbles and boulders are generally rounded rather than ancn-dar. Subsurface Conditions: The ground cover over the site generally consists <a Trvriinc7e to a foot of orernic silt filled with roots. Course sands mid gravels underlay the surface to a depth of 10 to 12 feet. This layer is interspersed with cobbles and some boulders. A thin organic layer (3 La.) was found at a depth of 4 or 5 feet in many test holes. The entire cu -ea is underlain with well grade: gravel occationally laced with silt and sand layers. No ground water was encountered in any of the holes except a damp seepage from one of these sand layers. Below 1.2 feet, more densly packed sand and gravel deposits were encountered but still. prodom-nately well graded and occationaly silty. one test hole that had higher silt -sand content was checked with a percolation test to obtain an actual vaiue for the soil in que-sticsn. The results of all investigations showed that even the 130ore3t soils will support undergrouund waste water disposal facilities. All .Lots having pcorer soils were m� d_e larger than an acre and a quarter in order to have sufficient room for future replacement systema should such ever be required. The soil profiles show that the entire subdivision area, is sited on good gravel, optimum for seepage pits. The soils were rated according to the Unified Soils Classification System, and here tempered by the results of the mechanical analysis, the experience of the geologist and his observations. Where dual soils classifications are shown, it is due to the instructions listed in the Unified Soils classification System but: in all case, a soils rating is given, based on the analyses conducted and the observations made. 'these ratings should be used for the design of the subsurface disposal facilities by future property cxners. Conclusion: The soils underlying this proposed subdivision will support suMurface disposal systems which are properly designed and sized. 'There is sufficient mom on each of the proposed lots for alternate disposal areas. The soils ac citable with respect to foundation bearing capacity for residential structures. The septic tank was found to have recommended ground cover. Effluent levels in the tank were measured and found to be within normal range of a 1250 gallon steel septic tank. 120 gallons of clean water was added directly to the drain field. The monitor tubes backed up prior to the end of the adequacy test. The field is in failure. Well: This property is served by a private well. The static water level was measured at 180' below the top of the well casing. Well production throughout the duration of the adequacy test was calculated to be 4 gpm. The well was pumped for over 30 minutes with minimal draw drown (3ft). The test was stopped when the field failed. The well recovered within 10 minutes of turning off the water. Conclusion: Based on observations and measurements, the tank operates within MOA requirements for a 4 - bedroom house, however the field is in failure and will need to be replaced. SPECIAL NOTE: In conducting an adequacy test, I attempt to provide a thorough, conscientious engineering analysis of the system in accordance with MOA guidelines and regulations. The reported results describe the performance of the system under the conditions encountered at the time of the test, and separation distances measured to readily identifiable features. The operational life of all wells and septic systems depend on the local soil condition, ground water levels that may fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system.
