RE: Subsurface Investigation, Lots 6A & 6B, Block 2 Parkside Subdivision
(Eagle River)
Dear Bob:
On Febuary 8, 1985, a 450 case rubber-tire backhoe was used to excavate two
test holes to determine subsurface soils conditidns at the above referenced
properties in order to determine suitability for on-site sewage disposal.
The property is fairly steep, sloping about 22% to the southwest and is ex-
tensively covered with ~lder, large birch and occasional spruce. Ground
cover is mostly composed of decaying vegetation of shrubs, grasses, and mosses.
Test Hole No. 1 was dug on Lot 6A to a depth of 16'. The top 3' consisted of
0.5' organics, followed by 2.5' of topsoil, light to medium brown and frozen
to a depth of about 2'. The topsoil was classified as a clayey silt. Below
this 18yet, a predominantly silty gravel, with very little sand, was encoun-
tered to the bottom of the hole. This material was slightly moist and light
brown in color. No apparent water table was encobntered but it is suggested
that further exploration be made in the spring/summer,period for:measonal
groundwater before designing and siting a disposal system as previous experi-
ence in the area by the dndersigned indicates that run-off periods can produce
a fairly high (6-8 ft beiow surface) seasonal groundwater.
Test Hole No. 2 was virtually the same as Test Hole No. 1. Percolation read-
ings were taken at both holes at 8-10 feet depths and resulted in a recommened
usage of 205 sq. ft. per BR for the drain line. Soils samples were also taken
at the percolation test depths with the results summerized as follows:

Re; PARKSIDE SUBDIVISION
Dear Rolf:
The referenced proposed subdivision was field investigated on August 21,
1972, for the purposes of determining the suitabiliiy':of the soils for
"on site" sewage disposal. The investigation was made solely along the cut
banks of the newly constructed access road within the proposed subdivision.
The findings are as follows with soils classifications related to bedrooms:
1. Cut bank in old slide area
Fragmented rock, loose ......... 100 s.f./ BR.
Cut bani((3')
Fragmented rock with some silt, loose .... 150 s.f./BR.
Cut bank (10')
Silty, sandy fragmented rock, - ........... 225 s.f./BR.
Cut bank (12')
Sandy, silty fragmented rock, loose ....... 175 s.f./BR.
Cut bank (11')
Fragmented rock, loose .................... 125 s.f./BR.
Cut bank (11')
Silty, fragmented rock ................... 200s.f./BR.
Cut bank (9')
Silty, fragmented rock ................... 200 s.f./BR.
The general conclusion that can be drawn from this inspection is one of
concern. The soils because of their looseness will certainly provide the
perculation as req~ired; however, a certain amount of surface appearance
downhill of each seepage pit may, occur if prudent judgement is not exercised
in the site selection~anJ~construction of each individual pit. The
seepage pit site location~as shown on the accompanying plat are general
in nature and alterations in the exact placement may be cequired-wheye _rock
outcroppings are encountered. The lots are certainly large enough to allow
location adjustments within each confining lot boundaries.
If there are any questions please don't hesitate to call at 279-6508.
