In the second sentence of the third paragraph, we stated that "The well was capped, however, it did not have a sani- tary sea]. as required..." In our discussions on January 12, 1984 with Ms. Laura Ward of the Division of Environmental Health, we became aware of a semantical difference contained in the quoted sentence. The difference involves the words "sanitary seal". We did state in the same sentence that the "well was capped" and by the Division's definition we are clarifying that to read "The well was capped with a metal sanitary seal as required by the June 1975 Municipal well ordinance". We understand from Ms. Ward that this clarification wi.Il allow the Division to amend the conditional approval to an approval. The purpose of the site visit was to check the physical relationship of the house, well and septic system on the subject property with respect to one another and adjacent property. Mr. Demming informed us that the house was built in November 1981. The septic system was pumped on March 22, 1983 by North]and Plumb- ing. Our engineer noted the nearest point of Demming's well to be about 115 feet to the adjacent property owner's drain field stand pipes. The drain field is set back at least 36 feet from the property line within Lot 12. All septic stand pipes were capped and above extended ground surface. The top of the well easing was noted to be 12 inches above surround- ing grade. The area was graded to sJope away from the well. The wmll was capped, however, it did not have a sanitary seal ss re- quired by the June 1975 Municipal well ordinance. The well is located 27 feet from the house and 110 feet from the septic system. We found that the apparent physical locations and characteristics of the well and septic system appear to meet the applicable Municipality of Anchorage and State of Alaska Environmental Health requirements.
