Doubek, 99577 JUL 1 6 I980 RECEIVED Reference: Lot lA; Block 5; Raymond Tedrow Subdivision At your request, a se¥:a~e system adequacy test was performed on the system located on the referenced property. The test was performed on J~zly 12 and 13, 1980 and consisted of having the septic tank pumped and meam~ring the percolstion of ymter from the seepage pit. The septic tank ~.ms fairly well compacted with solids and only approxi~mtely 400 gallons could be removed. Arrangeraents were made with the cesspool pumper to add chemicals to the septic tank in an effort to break down the solids. The tank is to be pumped again during the week of July 14 to 19, 1980. The seepage pit vms full of ~mter and appro×imqtely 600 gallons vms pumped out of the crib. The water level was recorded and approx~ imately 600 gallons were added to the crib. After a period of 24 hours, approximately 70 gallons had percolated from the crib. It can be concluded from 'the above tests that the seepage pit is not currently functioning adequately and that the septic tank vrill have to be pumped again to verify it's capacity. Yfnen you have the septic tank p~nped, you should retain a receipt from 'the cesspool pumper to verify the amount removed from the t~nk. I regret to inform you that it ~dll be necessary for you to upgrade the absorption area before the system can be considered adeouate for a three bedroom house. Permit for the upgumding can be obtained from the },~unicipality of Anchorage, Department of Health and Enviornmental' Protection, 825 L. Street, Anchorage, Alaska.. Therefore, an upgrade will. need to be done on the ].eaching area. The followi:'g items are required for the upgrade: (1) Prior to the upgrade, obtain a soils test so that a permit may be issued by this department. A listing of private engineers performing this test is enclosed. (2) Have the tank cleaned and pumped so that the size can be determined. (3) If the tank is not 1,000 gallons or greater, an additienal tank wi]_], need 'to he added to the existing tank. If there are any further questions, please call this department at 264-4720.
