Anchorage AK, 99519 Re: Proposed on-site Septic system on BLK 4 LOT 5 Riverview Estates Subdivision Dear Plan review Engineer. The proposed 3 bedroom private residence will be served the on-site septic system. The private well was permitted and drilled some time ago. We are proposing to install a new 2 compartment 1,000 Gallon septic tank and a 15'wide and 25' long bed type of drain field. The drain field will be installed within 30' of our test hole excavated on September 7-2012. The soils we encountered in TH#-1 are suitable for a subsurface waste water disposal system. We did not encounter ground water during our excavation on 9-7-12 or on 9-14-2012. The percolation test was performed at the depth of 2.5-3' below existing grade within 5' of the test hole TH#-1. The soils loading rate was derived from the percolation test result of 2.5 minutes/inch. The drainage from the lot is toward the north and the street drainage ditch drains to the west, there are no surface waters within 100' of the proposed septic system. Based on the M.O.A records (soils reports/ well logs) of the surrounding on-site systems, we conclude that the proposed septic system will have minimal if any adverse effect on the surrounding wells and septic systems. During our review we noted that the area is characterized by large lots (0.75Ac. +/-) and well -draining materials in the top 10-15feet. Also the general topography slopes to the north (5-15%). Please find enclosed the soils log and percolation test report as well as the design drawings/ calculation. DATE: / 7'/z- To whom it may concern: This letter is in response to a request by the municipality of Anchorage for additional details regarding the septic permit application at 6960 Waterfall Dr., Eagle River, AK: The city has asked the following questions to be answered by myself, the property owner: * "Intention" It is our intention to build a house on our property and install an appropriate septic system which will service the building. The design has already been completed by an approved engineer, Sandor Manyoky, PE, of Haas & Associates, Inc * "Where is equipment from" ABC rentals of Wasilla, AK -Mile 3.2 Knik-Goose Bay Road, 907-376-2500 * "...that no compensation for help" Since this is the municipality's request, the excavator and builder will not be compensated for help specifically related to the septic. "Owner will be on the project at all times" I will continue to be intimately involved with the project on a daily basis. In addition, and more importantly, so will Sandor Manyoky, PE, who is already a municipality - approved engineer and who personally designed the system we are installing. "Owner's experience installing this type of system" The owner's experience with this type of system is limited, however, the two individuals doing the bulk of the work provide more than sufficient experience to complete this project. Sandor Manyoky, PE of Haas & Associates has already designed the entire system, and he will be inspecting and assisting the entire project to completion as he already has been doing from day one. Jon James is a contractor with a lifetime resume of building and supervising residential and commercial building projects, including many multi -story office complexes in Anchorage. He is respected among his peers and I value his experience and expertise on this project.
