Minimum distance between a well and any on-site sewage disposal system is 100 feet for a private well or 150 to 200 feet from a public well depending upon the type of public well. Minimum distance from a private well to a private sewer line is 25 feet and to a community sewer line is 75 feet. Well logs are required and must be returned to this department within 30 days of the well completion. Other requirements may apply. We have assumed a cover of three feet of soil over the inlet pipe to the seepage pit, and therefore at a ten foot depth from ground you would have an effective depth of seven feet for percolation. For a two-bedroom house in this soil as classified, 250 square feet of side area would be necessary for 36 feet of seepage pit perimeter. The septic tank was pumped and in accordance with Municipality records has a capacity of 750 gallons. The seepage pit was full of water end hsd to be pumped. After measurements were taken the crib was recharged with s 1000 gallons of fresh water and after a period of 24 hours approximately 350 gallons hsd percolated out of the crib.
