The septic tank was pumped and verified to have a capacity of 1000 gallons. The seepage pit was charged with 800 gallons of fresh x¢ater and after a period of 24 hours all the water which had been added to the crib had percolated out. It can be concluded from this test that the waste water disposal system serving the three bedroom residence located on this property is currently functioning adequately. However, the system cannot be guaranteed against subsequent failure. Per your request of May 1, I had the seepage pit excavated on the referenced -property and a cast iron standpipe installed. The excavator informs me that the seepage pit is of log crib construction and was completely full of water. He also s~ated that there was no visual sign of gravel around the crib. Approximately 1,300 gallons of water were removed frbm the seepage pit. The piC was then recharged with 1,000 gallons of fresh water. Measurements were taken both before sod after the water was added. After a 24 hour period, there was no measurable loss of water from the'crib. As a result of this test, it is concluded that the seepage pit is not functioning adequately to serve the three bedroom residenge located on the referenced property.. The septic tank was pumped on November 29, 1978, and 750 gallons were removed. Chemicals were added to the septic tank in an effort to break down solid deposits. The tank was repumped on May 2, 1979, and again only 750 gallons could be removed. As a result, I can only verify a capacity of this tank at 750 gallons. ! regret to inform you that the system located on the referenced property is not adequate.
