Bo× An('horag(,.~ Al~ka 99511 Subject: Soil Investigation for Sanitary Sewer System, Lot 10, Block 1, Highland Subdiv£sion, Anchorage, Alaska Gentlemen: At your request of April 9, 1980, we conducted a subsurface soils investS- gation at the proposed location of the sanitary sewer system on the subject lot. The investigati, on complied with those procedures required by the HunS cipality of Anchorage Department of ttealth and Environmental Protection. This investigation, which was accomplished on April 10, 1980, consisted of a test hole excavated to a depth of 16 feet below the existing ground surface. The test hole was s~ted accord5ng to your instructions and its location is shown in attached Drawing A-01. Excavation was accomplished with a backhoe. All material excavated was continuously monitored by an experienced engineerSng geologist. The topography at the excavation site is generally horizontal. AL the time of the invest5gation tim site had been stripped of vegetation. The soils encountered in the excavation are shown Jn the test hole log in Drawing A-OI. This log displays specific conditious encountered at the test location, floweret, suhsurtace conditions may vary in other parts of the lot without any apparent' sur['ic/al evidence of the change. Groundwater was not encountered and br~drock was not e,co,mtered. Seasonal frost was not present aad perma[rost was not en(ountered. Based on the visual classification of the soil and the requirements set forth by the Huncipal£ty of Anchorage, a percolation test was not necessary within the test hole on the subject We appreciated this opportunity to be of service to you. It is our understanding that you wish to construct an office facility which up to five (5) people will occupy. The on-site water and sewer systems are hereby approved for the features with which this department is concerned providing a separation of at least 120 feet is maintained between the well and any surrounding septic tanks and soil absorption systems. This will require that the well be located near the front of the lot and the sewer system near the rear lot line. The Municipal Department of Health and Environmental Protection (264-4720) must also issue a sewer system permit prior to installation of the system.
