Per your request of September 15, 1978, we conducted a' test of the sanitary
sewer system on the above described property.
The septic tank was ptm~ped prior to the performance of the test on the seep-
age pit. During the test the liquid level in the seepage pit was measured
before and after the addition of 1000 gallons of water. All liquid levels
were measured below the top of the standpipe located one foot below ground
and are shown in the following table:

The meter used during the test was a Neptune 1~" standard water meter which
had previously been calibrated by R&M Consultants, Inc.
The water level rose 16.4 inches with the addition of 1000 gallons of water,
indicating a capacity of 61.0 gallons per inch. Twenty-four hours later the
liquid level was again measured and found to be 3.90 feet. It had dropped
1.12 feet or 13.4 inches. This indicates an average effluent acceptance rate
of 817 gallons per day for the surrounding soils. If the 2 bedroom residence
on the property is to house 4 people, the average load on the system can be
expected to be 300 gallons per day. We can therefore conclude that the
system is disposing of effluent at an adequate rate for a 2 bedroom resi-
dence.

Highland Park Subdivision
Dear Mr. Johnson:
An investigation of soils on the above-captioned property to determine
the percolation characteristics indicates that the soils are outwash
sands and silts deposited at the outer edge of the outwash apron. These
materials consist of interbedded sandy silts and silty sands classified
SM on the Unified Classification System. Soils of this type warrant a
seepage area of 250 square feet per bedroom.
