Subject: Hidden Hills, Block 1, Lot 26 - 6320 Quiet Circle
Septic System Design
Dear On-Site Services Engineer:
The septic system on the subject lot has failed and must be replaced. We are submitting this permit
application for the construction of a new septic system to serve the home. The attached site plan
identifies the location of the home and the existing well along with the existing and proposed septic
system.
No conflicts exist between this proposed septic system and any other well or septic system on
adjacent lots. The ground surface on the lot is virtually flat in the area of the new trench but
slopes to the north at grades greater than 25%. The absorption trench is designed to meet the steep
slope provisions of the Municipal Code. A steep slope greater than 46% is found to the east. This
slope has a total elevation drop of 10’ before flattening to less than 25%. Very little migration of
effluent is expected due to the porous nature of the underlying sandy soil. The existing absorption
system has been in service since 1975 and no effluent has ever appeared on the surface of the slope.
Surface contour lines are shown indicating direction of surface flow. Storm water flow will not
impact the proposed septic system.
The test hole placed on the adjacent lot in 2016 revealed no groundwater to 17’. Subsurface soils
were found to be sandy gravel with a percolation rate of 5 minutes per inch. We expect similar
results on this lot, but will complete a test hole prior to construction to verify our assumptions. We
request a condition to the permit requiring completion of the test hole prior to construction.

The lot has very little surface area for a system upgrade due to the location of the well and the size
of the lot. The new absorption trench must be placed 5’ from the west lot line. The absorption
trench on the adjacent lot is more than 15’ away. Soils in the area are very clean and the absorption
rate is less than 5 minutes per inch. We expect very little migration of effluent. We request a lot
line waiver of 5’ to allow placement of the proposed absorption trench as shown.
Wells on this and adjacent lots are shown. The new septic system will be a minimum of 100’ from
the well on this lot and 100’ from all wells on adjacent lots and any surface water.
Please refer to the attached plan sheet for the septic design. If this design is followed, there will be
no adverse impacts to adjacent properties.
