Manhole Hole Data The proposed sewer manhole is a type "B" to be added on an existing sewer main that runs under Abbott Road. The mitigating factors are the special manhole and cleanout details. Please see Engineers letter by Jim Sawhill dated September 15, 2005. Special manhole keeps all wastewater enclosed inside piping and the separation distance between the manhole and the well is still greater than 75 feet, which is allowed for sewer mains per code. Box 196650 4700 S Bragaw Street Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 Attention: On -Site Water & Wastewater Program Subject: Request for Separation Waiver On behalf of Sam's Club Real Estate Business Trust, Lounsbury & Associates is requesting a separation waiver to place a sewer manhole within the 100 -foot protective radius of a private water well. The water well in question is located in Hillcrest Subdivision, Lot 2, Block 2 just south of Abbott Road between the New and Old Seward Highways. Lot 2 covers 8100 square feet and is generally flat. Information about the well from when it was drilled in 1985 including the soils encountered is attached. The proposed sewer manhole is of Type "B" and will be built on an existing main that runs under Abbott Road. The separation distance between the well and manhole will be 80.2 feet, center -of -structure to center -of -structure. The proposed manhole needs to be located at this spot in order to line up with the sewer easement on the western edge of Toyon Subdivision Tract 6W-1. The proposed sewer improvements are necessary to service a new Sam's Club fueling station proposed for Tract 6W-2. The attached drawing shows the proposed sewer improvements. In order to prevent the proposed manhole from adversely affecting the well on Lot 2 it will be constructed in accordance with M.A.S.S. Detail #50-24 — Special Manhole and Cleanout Detail (Revised 10/00). Since this type of manhole keeps all wastewater enclosed inside piping and the separation distance between the manhole and well is still greater than the 75 feet allowed for sewer mains there should not be any adverse impacts associated with granting this waiver request.
