The existing well was classified as a class "C" well and is now considered a private well with a 100 foot protective radius. This well is located on Lot 11, Block 3; Henkins S/D and it is our understanding that this property is also owned by the owners of Block 3, Lot 6. The septic system was installed in 1983 and consists of a 1750 gallon septic tank and deep trench type drainfield. GEG has recently performed a site visit on this property and it appears the existing septic tank is collapsing. GEG also checked the liquid levels in the sump of the drainfield on 4/1/2019 and found the operating level to be below the invert of the distribution line. We propose that a 1530 single-compartment Infiltrator tank followed by a 1060 single compartment Infiltrator tank be installed. See the attached design drawing for specifics on the installation. Blk 3, Henkins S/D (See site plan) System description, The class C well is to supply water to a proposed six bedroom duplex. The well was drilled to 200 ft. and was essentially a dry hole. Then at a later date the steel casing was perforated from 9fi. to 13 ft. The well log indicates a 4 ft. layer of clay directly above perforations which may help to protect the water source from direct surface contamination. The well is located in s lower area near a small' stream and indications are good that it would supply an adequate quanity to serve the proposed duplex. Recommendations, l. The sewage disposl .system located on lot l0 should be removed. 2. The well should be disinfected. 3. The well should be pumped to remove all chlorine residual from disinfection and to determine the yield. 4. Have a water analysis completed to determine if aDy treatment is required other than chlorination which is recommended. The water analysis should be equal to a private individual routine water analysis with turbidity and color as preformed by Chemical & Geological Laboratories of Alaska.
