The existing 2 bedroom house is served by a class "C" well and private septic system. The drainfield is in a state of
failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install a new 1000 gallon septic tank and deep trench type
drainfield. One testhole was excavated on the property and the drainfield is designed within its 30 foot radius.
Comments regarding the design are as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached 2016 logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the
percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing, the average topography around the proposed
drainfield is 5-10%.
5. WAIVER: The proposed drainfield is approximately 5 feet from the west property line. We are requesting that your
department issue a variance from the required separation distance of 10 feet from drainfield to lot line to 1 foot.
Additionally, the exact location of the existing seepage pit is unknown. We are requesting that your department
waiver the requirement of 14 feet from the proposed drainfield to the existing seepage pit down to five feet. The
existing seepage pit is an MOA approved onsite septic system and has been in use for approximately 34 years
(installed in 1972 per MOA records). Given the visual classification (GM) and percolation rate of the existing soil
(30min/inch) it is reasonable to assume that the effluent will be significantly treated by the time it moves laterally to
the sidewall of the existing seepage pit. The existing seepage pit is to be decommissioned, therefore both systems
cannot be in use at the same time. We are also requesting that your department wavier the requirement from 5' from
the proposed drainfield and the testhole down to zero feet. During the excavation of the trench any sluffng that
occurs near the T.H. will be excavated out and compacted as to ensure minimal impact on the proposed drainfield.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. If you have
