Two test holes were excavated on the property. Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: Attached are two soil logs which shows the soil profile, and the percolation test results. The soils in TH42 were more favorable, so we are proposing to design the proposed drainfield around a 30 foot radius of this test hole. In TH#2, the soils below the organic layers are a GW material to a depth of 5 to 5.5 feet and than transitions to a SP material to a depth of 12 feet (bottom of test hole). At 12 feet, a clay layer was encountered and visually rated to be impermeable. No groundwater was encountered during the excavation of the TH#2. A percolation test was performed between the depth of 5.5 feet to 6.0 feet which had a percolation rate of <1 minute/inch. It is our opinion that the insitu sandy soils should act as a sand filter. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 1.2 gallons/day/112 c. Number of Bedrooms: 3 d. Design Flow: 450 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 375 ft2 f Total Depth: 5.5 feet (max.- on uphill side) g. Effective Depth: 2 feet It. Width: 5 feet i. Reduction Factor: 0.70 j. Minimum Length: 55 feet long k. Effective absorption area = 393 ft2 Note: This will be a pressurized system. The distribution line is to be 1.25 inch sch. 40 PVC pipe with .25 inch diameter holes spaced every 18 inches on center. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. There is some small ponding in low areas during the spring break-up. All low areas are to be filled with soils to prevent such ponding. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design; the slopes runs from northeast to southwest at approximately a 2 to 5 percent and gradually decrease in the area of the proposed drainfield. In short, there are no slope concerns 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: We request that your department issue a 1 foot lot line waiver from the northeast property line to the proposed drainfield. We are unaware of any adverse effects this will have on the neighboring property. I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.
