SUBJECT:
Water Supply Well, Lot 5, Tract H,
Broadwater Heights Subdivision
Dear Mr. Bandurski:
Pursuant to our recent telephone conversations, this will sum-
marize the findings of our several on-site inspections of the
water supply well located on your lot described as Lot 5, Tract H,
Broadwater Heights Subdivision. On three different occasions,
the first of which was prompted by a request for a Health
Authority Approval for Financing, personnel from this office were
dispatched to your lot to conduct inspections of tile on-site
water and sewer facilities. During the first of these inspec-
tions, it was determined (quite by accident) that water was
entering the water supply well at an abnormally shallow depth.
Subsequent inspections confirmed that the casing was perforated
at an approximate depth of 12' below ground level, and the casing
was set (in bedrock) at approximately 19' below ground level.
Following these on-site inspections, you and the Jay Williams
Drilling Company were advised that the Municipality of Anchorage,
Department of Health, would not approve your well, and would
require that the well be corrected by some accepted procedure for
sealing off the perforated area located approximately 12' below
ground level. We have subsequently received a copy of a well
report from the Jay Williams Drilling Company indicating that a
4" plastic liner has been set from surface to a depth of 455',
and was cemented in the interval of 10' to 19'. By a note
affixed to the Health Authority Approval Certificate by Mr. Les
Buchholz, dated August 16, 1983, it is indicated that an inspec-
tion following the above described repair operation showed the
repair operation to be satisfactory. Assuming that the well's
productivity is at least 150 gallons per day per bedroom, the
well now meets the Municipal Code.
