Subject: Bruce Subdivision - LID ~115
The Department of Health and Environmental Protection has
received a request from the Municipality of Anchorage,
Sewer and Water Utility 'to co~nent on the proposed project.
A file search of the Bruce Subdivision and Wakefield Subdivision
resulted in the following:
(1) ~Fhe area has a long history of on-site sewer failure
and complaints.
(2) The area has soils that are classified ML Unified Soils
Classification and thus highly impermeable.
(3) The proximity to Campbell Creek and general elevation
have resulted in some areas of high water tables and
use of holding tanks.
In view of precautionary step with the sewer line construction
(use of D.I.P.), impermeable soils and problems with on-site
sewers/holding tanks, this department has no objection to
reducing protective radii.
The Department of Health and Environmental Protection strongly
supports public sewer in the area.
If there are any further questions, please call this office
at 264-4720.
Sincerely,
Les N. Buchholz., R.S.
Senior Environmental Specialist.
