Box 196650 Anchorage, Alaska 99519-6650 MUNICIPALI'TY OF ANCHORAGE ~NVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DIVISION Ref2 Well and Septic Design for Lots 6, BlOck 6, South Lakewood Hills Subdivision To whom it may concern: The proposed 3 bedroom house will be served by a private septic system and a private well. Comments regardiqg the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: Attached are logs which shows the soil profile, and the percolation test results. The soils below the organic layer are a GM material to a depth of 17 feet (bottom of test hole) in TH#1 and to 13.5 feet in TH#2. At 13~5 feet in TH#2, the soils below the GM layer transitions to a GW/SW material to a depth of 17 feet (bottom of the test hole). Groundwater was encountered during the excavation at 15 feet in both test holes. After 13 days, the monitoring tubes in the test holes were checked and water was found to be at 16.4 feet in TH#1 and at 15.9 feet in TH#2. Two percolation tests were performed between the depths of 5~0 feet to 6:0 feet and 8:0 feet to 9.0 feet in TH#1. One percolation test was performed between the depths of 5.0 feet to 6:0 feet in TH#2. The percolation rate was 13 minute/inch on the upper bench and at 9 minute/inch on the lower bench in TH#1. The percolation rate was 8 minute/inch in TH#2. 2. TRENCH DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: 13, 9, and 8 minutes/inch b. Allowable Application Rate: 0.8. gallons/day/ft2 c. Number of Bedrooms: 3 d. Design Flow: 450 gallons per day e. Minimum Absorption Area: 563 ft2 £ Total Depth: 10 feet (max:) g. Effective Depth: 6 feet h. Width: 2 feet i. Minimum Length: 50 feet j Effective absorption area = 600 fi2 (563 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed upgrade. 4.
