Subject: Lots 9 and 10 Block 3 South Wood Park Subdivision
Dear Mr. Strickland:
Based on discussions we have had with the builder as long as the
following stipulations are met we have no objections to the con-
struction 6f dwellings on these lots.
1. All waste lines carrying sewage shall be ca or duct~ /-~'.
iron.
2. Any line within the 100 foot radius of the well will be
also incased in a minimum of 6 inches of concrete.
3. Any of these lines outside 100 feet but within 200 feet
of the well will be cast iron.
It is our information that the builder will locate these dwellings
at leaste75 feet from the well. With the above stip61ations we feel
that the Public Health will be protected. In addition we have Seen
provided with information from the realitor that Central Alaska
Utilities intends to abandon this well within the near future.

Subdivision
L~ar Mr. ~m~it~.~
lbo Greater ~chorage Area Borough [~alth ~epartment made m~ inspection
of the subject well during August o£ 1969. ~is survey sho~ed that there
were nine (9) sewage disposal systems within the 200' protective radii o£
the subject well.
Your Co~pany was contacted regarding this situation in regards to the
ultimate fate of tho well. [te ~ere informed that the well ~ to be
capped off ~d bo put out of se~ice during the 1970 const~tion sea-
son. ~iS w~ be~e ~e ~ell w~ shall~ (60-70~ ~ep) ~d w~ not
a large producing well.
Based on this inforaation £rom your Co~pany, no immediate action was
taken to have tile nine (9) systems ~)vod. Also~ basedon this ilffor-
mation~ per, its for additional on-site disposal syste~ on Lots 36 and
37~ 5lock 3, were issued and the systems were installed during the spring
of 1970.
t~e have now heard tJmt this well is bei~g reworked to give increased pro-
duction and not removed £re~ the system. ~e feel that if this well is not
taken out of production, the nbue (9) older sewer systems and t~o (2) re-
cent ones present a signi£icm~t health hazard to this well.
Your written reply to thopresont and future status o£ this ~ell will
assist us in our action regarding this ~tter. Please reply at your
earliest convenience.
