_RE_CE_[%ED
Dear Messrs. Lynn & Robinson:
Enclosed please find my soils and percolation test boring sheets
as well as a location sketch for the above referenced property. As you
can see, the north edge of the property had high ground water on June
28, 1983 while three test holes on the southern edge are showing ground
water between 7 and 11 feet and reasonable percolation rates at shallow
depths.
An exception is T.H. 5 which has ground water at approximately 18
inches, apparently influenced by a flowing culvert across New Rabbit Creek
Road at the east edge of the property. T,H. 4 is down slope from a higher
area on Lot 4 and it currently has ground water at 8 feet. I feel we
have sufficient area on Lot 4 for a shallow system and replacement.
Lot 2 did not end up with a test hole near its south side because
lot lines were not drawn until the test hole results were known several
days after drilling. It appears that an area similar to T.H. 1 or T.H.
6 can be found on Lot 2. Of course it is your decision whether the owners
will have to order additional test and perc hole borings before final
subdivision approval.
Sincerely, / ~,
.............
Neil Hawthorne

Re: Tract B1, North Half, Stork Subdivision Addition II
Mike and Lucille Johnson - Case No. S7215
Dear Mr. Lynn:
Please accept this as my August reading of ground water levels and
percolation reports that you requested on the above described property. I
understand that your comments for the subdivision revie~.w~x~ea~ by August
15, 1983.
Ground Water Level Readings - August 10, 1983
T.H. i - 14.0 feet below surface~
T.H. 2 - 2.5 feet below surface/
T.H. 3 - 6.0 feet below surface o
T.H. 4 - 10.5 feet below surface ~.~ '~,~:o,, c~-4369 ,.'~r~
T.H. 5 - 1.5 feet below surfacez/' ~Z~e~m~'°o, ....... ,'~.~
T.H. 6 - 9.5 feet below surface
You had asked for two additional percolation tests which are included
herein.
Note that the acceptable water levels and percolation tests are all on
the high side of the lots. Also note that the percolation test holes are
fairly shallow. We have oversized the lots to make sure area exists for shallow
bed systems but eventual property owners may have to pump their septic tank
effluent if the houses are located very far from New Rabbit Creek Road. Of
course, pumped dosing has the advantage of extending the field life because
it has frequent opportunity to dry out.
When leach field systems are designed for shallow soils two very important
things must be remembered. ~ ~./'~/ ,~I, ~ ..~ ~

1. The soils are not generally densely packed which results in rapid
percolation rates. Subsequent saturation of these loose soils by a leach
field may have the affect of significantly compacting them, thereby increasing
the percolation rate value (minutes/inch).
2. Contractors often do not realize the importance of keeping equipment
off of an excavated bed area. Additional inspection may be required.
Let me know if further information is needed on this case.
Sincerely,
Nell Hawthorne, P.E.
