To whom it may concern: The existing 3 bedroom house is served by a private well and septic system .The homeowner would like to upgrade his house to 5 bedrooms. Two test holes were excavated on the properly by S&S Engineering and David Dayton, P.E.; and a third test hole was performed by us. The proposed septic system will be designed around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. We are proposing that a 2000 gallon septic tank and bed type drainfield be installed. Comments regarding the proposed design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: Attached are logs from A.W.W.C., Inc., S&S Engineering, and David Dayton, P.E. which shows the soil classifications, ground water monitoring, and the percolation test results (see attached). Groundwater was encountered at 5.0 feet in TH#1 (A.W.W.C.) during excavation of the test hole also, the monitoring tubes for the other test holes were checked on 6/2/00 and found ground water to be at 4'4" and at 4'-6". A percolation test for TH#1 was performed between the depth of 2.5 feet to 3.0 feet which had a percolation rate of<l minute/inch. It is our opinion that a sand filter is required and a application rate of 0.7 gallon/day/fi sq. should be used. 2. TRENCI1 DESIGN: a. Percolation Rate: <1 minutes/inch b. Septic System Upgrade The proposed system is to replace a 3 bedroom system constructed in 1979. Due to the age of the 3 bedroom system, a complete new system with capacity for 5 bedrooms is being built. As the water tables are quite high in the area, the system will be a gravity fed mounded system with the bottom at natural ground level. The tank and lines will also be above natural ground, mounded over and insulated. The large lot, 2% acres, has ample room for the system with all required separation distances from the well and old system. The wells and septic systems on the adjacent lots are all well over 100 ft. from the proposed system.
