Since this a*a. L4ng water system has been previously approved and because, it serves less than 13 bedrooms or 25 residents, this water system is viewed as a Class "C" Public Water System. Assuming that the~ have been no modi~cations to thc water sySte~ since approval was granted, Yerifica6on that ~h~ Wa~er supply has been recently tested was requited to m~in_tain compliance with State Drinking Water Regulations (18 AAC 80). The submitted water analyses xverc satisfactory for both total coliform bacteria and nitrate and satisfy th~ requirement. Therefore. for the concerns of this Depanment~ thl, water s~stem i~ in compliance with State of Alaska Drinking Water Regalafioas (18 AAC 80). Thc following is our finding: WELL: On March 5, 2002, the static water level was found to be at 120 below the top of th, casing (BTC). A total of 2072 gallons was pm'npeci from the well in 377 minutes with the static water le~n~l dropping to 125 fe~t BTC. Based upon this data, ~ well flow produ.etion produced 5.6 gallons per minute, which meets the State and Municipal requirements for an eight (8) bedroom residence. Water s~-pl,s were taken for Amenic, Nitrate, and total Coliform bacteria and found to be sa~f~ctory (sec attache~l results). This is a class "C' well p~r DEC records and it has been clzsignated a public water system identification number (PWSlD # 218530). SEPTIC: We performed ~termive records research st Municipal and State department, u'y~g to find dooumentation on the septic sy~em and were unable to find lmy. Based upon documentation you provided us from correspondence you had with DEC in 1997, the sy~em was approved by the State of Alaska DEC for eight (g) bedrooms. During our site visit, we found a total of 5 standpipes. Given ~he 'data from our site visits, field investigations, and our knowledge of the types of septic sy,~-em~ installed in this arc~, we believe the septic system consists of a 2000+ gal/on septic tank and B~vo crib type drainfields. It is unknown how these standpipes are connected. A total 0£2034 gallons was introduced into the aystem, which caused the liquid level to rise to 52 inches (a rise of 16 inches). A~er 900 minutes, the liquid level in the crib was checked ~nd found to be at 39.5 (a drop of 12.5 i~ehes). Based upon this data, the crib absoxbefl ~200+ gallons fix less than a 24. hour period which exceeds the S~ate of Al~ka absorption requiremeuts for a bedroom residence- Aa eau be seea on the aflaehed drawiaag, thc septic ~ystem is located on Lot 7gA, Chester Cromwell S/D.
