Reference: Septic System Upgrade for T15N, R1W, Section 9, Lot 106A
Ms. Wockenfuss:
The referenced property is owned by a church called The Crossing and has two (2) 3-bedroom
single family homes on it. These homes are served by a community water well located on T15N,
R1W, Section 9, Lot 105A, and by private septic systems. The community water well that serves
these homes is an approved public water system (PWSID # AK2214219) and the septic
systems are not documented. The Crossing is in the process of removing the lot lines between
105A and Lot 106A and renaming the re-subdivision, The Crossing S/D; Block 1, Lot 1 (see
Case S12452). In order to do this, it is our understanding that an approved septic system design
permit be issued to show how the septic system/s that serves these homes can be brought into
compliance. Attached is a septic system design that shows a single septic system that will
serves both of these homes and is sized to serve up to 6 bedrooms. We have met with you
regarding this and you conveyed to us that this type of installation is under jurisdiction of the
MOA Onsite Department. Two test holes have been excavated on the property and the
drainfields have been designed within the 30 foot radii of these test holes. We are proposing
that a 2,000 gallon 2-compartment septic tank and dual 5-wide type drainfields be installed to
serve these two homes. Upon issuance of the sewer upgrade permit, we are requesting that the
Summary of Action comment sheet for this platting case (Case S12452) be signed off by your
department. Comments regarding the proposed design are as follows:
1. SOILS: Attached ar two (2) soil logs that show the soils classifications, groundwater
monitoring, and percolation tests. The percolation rates in both test holes was found to be 1.7
minutes/inch. We are proposing to use'a 1.2 gpd/sq.ft. application rate for this design for 5-wide
type drainfields.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns.

4. TOPOGRAPHY: The topography is shown on the site plan and design drawings. As can be
seen from the contours, there are no slope concerns with the installation of this septic system.
5. WATER WELL DECOMMISSIONING: As can be seen on the attached site plan, there is an
unused water well on the referenced property near the west lot line. We are proposing this well
be permanently decommissioned per the MOA Water Well Ordinance. We request this be made
as a special provision on the septic permit.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic
