A Anchorage, Alaska 99507 Attention: Mr. Cecil Dauphinee :Project:..: Lot 1, Block 2,~T~rnagain Subdivision~ ~ Subject: Subsurface Soils Study Gentlemen: Transmitted herein are the results of a t~st boring placed in the project property at the specified location and depth. The data is organized in this report as follows: Test Hole Location Sketch Test Hole Log Standard Explanatory Data Figure 1 Sheet 1 Sheets 2 to 4 The test hole was drilled by Denali Drilling, Inc., superviszons, testing, and report by Alaska Testlab. The test hole was placed by means of a Nodwell mounted Mobile B-50 drill, fitted with hollow stem continuous flight auger. Grab samples were taken from the cuttings and from the auger bit as needed. The test hole was placed on the 29th of May 1975, supervised, logged and sampled by Mr. Peter Herstek, technician of our staff. The materials encountered were non-frost susceptible sands and sandy gravels. No free water was observed at the tim e of drilling, nevertheless, vadose water tables do fluctuate depending on season, weather, and the activities of man. Therefore there is no intent to imply that a free water level would not occur at this site in the future. No frost or frozen material was observed at the of drilling. Mr.~ Cecil Dauphinee May 29, 1975 Page 2 The Greater Anchorage Area Borougn has established the amount of seepage area per bedroom required for a particular seepage pit based on the unified classificaiton of the soil. We understand this criteria to be as follows: Unified Soils Classification Seepage Area Required GW-GP 85 square feet/bedroom GM 225 " " " SW 125 " " " SP 150 " " " SM 250 " " " ML 275 " " ~: " CL-CH 350 " " " Soils with a seepage area value of greater than 250 square feet per bedroom are generally considered not sufficiently permeable to accept effluent. Additionally, the bottom of any seepage pit is required to be 4 feet above the free water level. The unified soils classification of each soil type encountered is contained on the hole log to provide for proportioning a seepage pit at the site drilled.
