Test Hole and Soil Log P. epor~ for Sanitary System
Lot 1, Block 2, Turnagain Subdivision
Dear Ms. Brown:
We are submitting herewith the test boring results and our comments
regarding soil conditions encountered a~ the subject site. This inves-
tigation was performed in accordance with your request of September 26,
1975, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated July 15, 1975, by
Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of
Environmental Quality.
A single test hole was put down within the Lot 1 area for the purpose of
defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary
system. Excavation was accomplished with an auger type drilling rig and
the test hole was extended to a total depth of 20.0 feet below ground
surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in
Drawing A-O1.
Ground water w~s encountered in the test hole.at a depth of 19.0 feet.
We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you.
Should you have any questions with regard to the above, please do not
hesitate to contact us.
Very truly yours,

SUBJ£CT: Unclassified wellon Lot 1, Block Z, Turnagaln Subdivision
Dear Hr. Cherry:
Hr. Cectl Dauphtnee, o~ner of the subject let, has contacted.this de-
per, merit regarding the feasibility of using the extsttng foot'trig for
apa~ments and office buildings.
The well on the es-butlts of Lot 1, 61ock 2, Turnagatn Subdivision has
eeen vandalized and filled with fist-sized rock. Hr. Oeuphtnee ts
willing to drill a new well, however, the lot size will accommodate a
semt-pubHc well and not a public well. The question then arises as to
the existing ~ell being unclassified and ~. Oauphtnee' havtng the right
:o use the old semi~public well distance requirements tn connection
with a proposed well.
The files of thls department tndtcate the extstJng well was not classi-
fied or used as a semi-public well and therefore any p~oposed well
should meet the new public well standards. Since the public well
classification ts regulated by the Department of Environmental Conser-
vation, ! would appreciate your opinion before ! reply to ~4r. 0auphJnee.

Connect to Public Sewer
Dear Mr. Johnson:
This letter is to inform you that the Department of Health &
Human Services has recently received a letter from Anchorage
Water & Wastewater Utility describing their intent to have a
sewer line installed adjacent to your property by approximately
the summer of 1988. This will allow us to waive the
requirement for you to upgrade your existing septic system for
the proposed addition of a bedroom to your house.
This approval however requires, 1) To obtain two estimates to
have the house in question hooked up to public sewer at the
time it becomes available. 2) That money is put in Escrow to
achieve the task of hooking up to public sewer. 3) In the
event that public sewer does not become available by September
1, 1988, then the existing septic system must be upgraded to
comply with Title 15 of the Anchorage Municipal Code.
If you have any~questions regarding this matter, please feel
free to contact me at 343-4744.

SUBJECT:
OLD SEWARD LID NO. 159
TURNAGAIN SUBDIVISION, BLOCK 2, LOT 3
Dear Wendy:
Design of the Old Seward LID No. 159 project is approximately 90%
complete. This project will provide sanitary sewer service to
the referenced property. In order to complete the design and
advertise the project for construction bids, the Anchorage Water
and Wastewater Utility (AWWU) must acquire Sanitary Sewer
Easements, Temporary Construction Permits, well waivers from the
Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC), and a
permit from the Alaska Railroad. This acquisition process is
approximately 70% complete.
AWWU anticipates advertising the subject project for construction
bids in the fall of 1987 subject to the acquisition of the above
mentioned permits, easements, and well waivers. This will allow
a contractor to begin and complete construction of the sanitary
sewer improvements in 1988.
If you have any further questions, please contact me at 564-2752.
