At your request of May 30, 1978, we conducted a test of the septic system on
the above described property.
During the test the liquid level in the septic tank was monitored as water
was added to the system. The measurements are summarized in the following
table:
The meter used during the test was a Rockwell 5/8" standard water meter which
had previously been calibrated by R&M Consultants, Inc.
If the 3 bedroom residence on the property is to house 6 people, the average
load on the system can be expected to be 450 gallons per day or .31 gallons
per minute. During the test, the system accepted 150 gallons in 50 minutes.
This indicates an average effluent acceptance rate of approximately 3.0
gallons per minute at the time of the test.

At that time- it was found that the sewage disposal system
seems to consist of a cesspool orderlocated

Anchorage Area Borough tiegulations, a 1,000 gallon septic
tank must be installed between thc. dw lling and the existing
cesspool. i[owever, this department will give te!�porary ap-
proval on the existing system pending the escrow of funds
needed for the above improvement. The installation of a
Septic tank must occur before duly 1, 1974. A permit, from
this department is necessary prior to tile installation and an
inspection must be performed prior to backfilling the tank.

As the proposed improvements to the waste disposal syste;rr for -
the subject property is to upgrade the system from a cesspool to
a septic tank leaching pit system, we have no objection to the
proposed work. Also as this is to upgrade an existing system, we
will permit the septic tank to meet the 50 ft. requirement from
the well as was required in the regulations prior to the time of
the promulgation of the Alaska Department of Environmental Con-
servation Waste Water Regulations. We can see some advantage to
placing this septic tank closer to your house as we discussed in
this office.
