Temporary holding tank to well
In response to your red, est for a distance waiver, well
to temporary holding tank, a review of the request has
been made by this office an~ the request to locate the
temporary holding tank no closer than se=~nty-five(75)
feet from the well is hereby granted.
It will be necessary to abandon the holding tank and
connect to the Gird~ood Se~er System as soon as that
system is available. During the period of time ~he
holding tank is in use, an arrangement to keep the holding
tank p~ped mt%st be entered into and a copy of the signed
agreement provided this office if puffaping is to be
accomplished by a pumping firm rather than by the
Municipality or Fire District.
If there are any further q~estions, please contact this
office at 264-47~0.

Request for well-holding tank distance separation exception, new
Girdwood Fire Station
The attached request for a waiver of distance between a holding tank
and a well for the new fire station at Girdwood, was received by this
office.
Public sewer will be available next year to this facility so we would
allow the holding tank. However, we request your conm~ents and
approval/disapproval of a distance waiver.
Thanks.

Re: New Girdwood Fire Station
Exception for well location
Gentlemen.
Attached find site plan of proposed project taking note of well and temporary
holding tank locations.
According to Mr. Reford G. Reid, Civil Engineer for the Anchorage Sewer Utility,
the new Girdwood sewer system will not be operational until September or
October of 1978. Since the new fire station may be ready for occupancy
prior to that time (as early as May 1, 1978), a temporary holding tank is
planned. Water for the new facility will be from an on site well which we
propose to locate within ten feet of the southeast corner of the building.
Due to the short period of time the temporary holding tank will be needed,
plus the added cost to the limited budget, we hereby request a waiver of the
~50' separation requirement between the new well and the holding tank to a
minimum of 75'.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. We await your response at
your earliest convenience.
Sincerely,
William E. Merry
