The test hole excavation was completed near the old system along the west side of the property. The soils consisted of well graded gravels for the complete 17 feet of test hole depth, this matched well with the original test hole data. No water was observed after the 7 day monitoring period. The pert rate was 2 minutes per inch. A new deep trench will be utilized for the leach field with an effective depth of 5 feet. The application rate of 1.2 gallons per day per square foot has been use for the deep trench for a total length of 38 feet. The surrounding properties have existing systems already which appear to be functioning well. The lot slopes off along the west side at 20%, but not greater than 25% which would require a slope offset for the leach field. All of the new leach field will be parallel to the northwest sloping area. The neighboring lots will not be impacted by this new construction due to community water suppling the subdivision. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of June 27, 1973, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Rolf Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Borough Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the Lot 4 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sanitary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor -mounted backhoe and the test hole was extended to a total depth of 14 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-01. Ground water was not encountered in the test hole. We appreciate being given this opportunity to you. Northern Lights Blvd. Anchorage, Alaska 99503 Re: Adequacy test of Onsite Waste Water Disposal System Lot 4, Block 1 Valli Vue Subdivision Dear Sir: On December 12, 1982 an adequacy test was performed on the waster water disposal system on the above referenced property at the request of Diane Hampton of Marston Real Estate. The system consists of a 1000 gallon Greer Steel single compartment 1000 gallon septic tank with an 8x8x6 crib type seepage pit constructed in July 1973. This information is based on a GAAB inspection report of July 11, 1973. The method used for this adequacy test was that described in "In Situ Testing of On -Site Sewer Systems" by Leroy C. Reid, Jr. PHD. and Daniel L. MacFarlane. A surge of 675 gallons of water was pumped into the pit and the rise was measured every 10 minutes. Within two hour of shut down the water level in the pit was back to the starting point. There was no evidence that the system had been recently pumped. This will probably be required prior to approval by the Municipality of Anchorage. It is my professional opinion that this system passes the adequacy test for a three bedroom home per the standards required by the Department of Health and Environmental Protection Agency of the Municipality of Anchorage.
