The lot is served by a community water system and the water service was placed when the house was originally constructed. The recently removed septic tank apparently encroached into the 10' setback. The location of the new tank does not impact the property to the south as it is located more than 10' from the septic systems on that lot. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new 1,250 gallon steel septic tank to serve the home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the existing septic system and the location of the new tank. The subdivision is currently served by a Class A Community Water System. No conflicts existing between the Class A Well separation distance and the septic system on this or the adjacent lots. The existing tank on the lot will be properly disposed in accordance with Municipal Code. The existing absorption system will remain in place for continued service. The ground surface on the lot slopes at a grade of 7% to the southwest in the area of the septic tank. The tank will be constructed near the location of the old tank and in conformance with Municipal requirements. Your system, built in July 1975, consists of a 1,000 gallon septic tank followed by 40' of perforated drainfield. At 10:30 a.m. Isaacs Pumping Service delivered approximately 50-100 gallons of fresh water that was discharged into the drainfield through the 6" cleanout, saturating the drainfield. The septic tank was then pumped out, (see attached bill). A flow rate of 8 gallons per minute was established and placed down the drainfield for 35 minutes. The flow was stopped for two minutes and the water level in the 6" cleanout dropped to the bottom of the pipe. A water flow rate of 6 gallons per minute was re—established again and the water level was monitored in the cleanout. The water level established an equilibrium level of 3'9" from the top of the cleanout pipe and dropped to the .bottom of the pipe within two minutes of shutting the water off. The wastewater disposal system for your three bedroom house should be capable of handling 450 gallons per day. During the test period your disposal system accepted over 750 gallons of water with an absorption rate greater than 5 gallons per minute. .During the entire period no water was observed surfacing out of the driveway embankment area along the northern property line. Therefore, based on the above test information this on—site sewage disposal system is presently adequate to serve the house.
