The septic tank was installed in 1973 and the homeowners would like to upgrade their tank. Certificates of On-Site Systems Approval are required for the transfer of title (except between spouses) for properties served by a single-family on-site wastewater disposal and/or water supply system. DSD also issues COSAs upon request to homeowners. Certificates of On-Site Systems Approval are valid for 90 days from the date of issue for properties served by a private or Class C well and may be reissued with new water samples. (Certificates may be reissued for a period of up to one year with valid water samples.) Certificates are valid for one year for properties served by Class A or B wells or a public water system. The Municipality of Anchorage is not responsible for errors or omissions in the professional engineer's work. 4. During our inspection, we suspected the water line may be less than 10 feet from the septic tank. The homeowner retained Water Systems Services, LLC to locate the water line. The tank cleanout is less than I0 feet from the water line location, meaning the tank is even closer underground. Attached is a drawing showing the location of the water line and septic system. Also, the sewer service line from the house is less than 5 feet from the water line. We request that your department issue a 5-foot waiver between the existing septic tank and existing water line. We also request a 4' waiver between the water line and sewer line. The water line is made of copper. The septic tank and water line have been in place for more than 35 years without any apparent problems.
