We propose to install one deep trench and an Infiltrator IM-1530 septic tank with side in / out connections to serve the existing 4-bedroom residence. The design is based on the recent test hole conducted on August 6, 2024. No groundwater was observed at test hole excavation or monitoring. The slopes are moderate at 10-15% at the proposed upgrade location. The lot and area are served by public water. The design will not impact any of the neighboring properties. This investigation was performed in accordance with your request of May 7, 1974, and those procedures outlined in a letter dated September 13, 1971 by Mr. Roll Strickland of the Greater Anchorage Area Boroug~ Department of Environmental Quality. A single test hole was put down within the Lot 21 area for the purpose of defining general subsurface soil conditions for the proposed sani- tary system. Excavation was accomplished with a tractor-mounted back- hoe and the test was extended to a total depth of 14.0 feet below ground surface. The final log prepared for the test hole has been included in Drawing A-O1. Ground water'was not encountered in the test hole. We appreciate being given this opportunity to be of service to you. The assessment of the condition of the well and septic applies only to the conditions as of the day tested. The flow and absorption rates may change due to subsurface conditions that may not be observed from the surface, changes in land use, local soil characteristics, groundwater levels that may fluctuate during the year, quality of construction (workmanship & materials), the water usage of the family being served by the system and maintenance. The operational life of all well and septic systems are subject to these various and dynamic characteristics and are outside the control of the evaluator of the well and septic system. CONCRETE CRIB 288 SQ. FT. 1974 DATE OF LAST PUMPING: JULY 1, 1988. MARX DATE OF TEST: JUNE 30, 1988 TEST PROCEDURE: System was inspected and measured. Tank was found with four feet of cover and 49 inches of liquid. Concrete crib was 8 feet deep and had a liquid depth of 23 inches. 700 gallons of clean water was added to the system at a constant rate of 6.5 gallons per minute. The first 100 gallons were added to the foundation clean out. No rise in tank were observed, water could be heard entering the crib. The remaining 600 gallons were added to the crib. The addition of 400 gallons caused the water level in the crib to rise 32 inches. The next 300 gallons did not cause the water level to rise. 5 minutes after the water was stopped the level had dropped 3 inches. After 2.5 hours the drop was 21 inches, indicating that the soil was absorbing the water. TEST RESULT: This system meets the code requirements of the Health and Social Services Department of the Municipality of Anchorage. The indicated absorption area is less that what is required based on a soil rating of 85 and four bedrooms. This system has been operating for 14 years and my observations indicates that the crib is operating at 1/2 depth. NOTE The operational life of all septic systems depends on the local soil conditions, groundwater levels that may fluctuate during the year, and the water usage of the family being served by the system. These conditions are outside the control of the evaluator of this septic system.
