According to Rob Campbell with ARM Septic Services, LLC, the monitoring tubes in the drainfields have been checked recently and were found to be dry. In order to simplify the operation and maintenance of the system, we are proposing that this unit be permanently configured as a CAT I I system, Our justifications are as follows: • The receiving soil had percolation rates that ranged from 3.33 to 13.33 minutes per inch. Given these percolation rates, a 3.0 gpd/sq.ft. application rate is required for a Cat II system. The home has 3 bedrooms, so 150 sq./ft. of absorption area is required for a CAT II system (450 gpd / 3.0). The existing 2012 drainfield has 150 sq./ft. of absorption area. The following information should supersede the application rate outlined in GEG's original design dated 6/4/2012 and the approved On-site Wastewater Inspection Report dated 12/3/2012: -Allowable application rate: 3.0 gpd/sq.ft. At this time. we request that your department approve a CAT II configuration to be used at the referenced property. Upon your concurrence, we will have ARM Septic Service, LLC, either leave the Jandy valve actuator in the discharge position; or have them completely remove the actuator and�le�ve the valve in the open position. During the test the liquid level in the septic tank was monitored as water was added to the system. If the 3 bedroom residence on the property is to house 6 people, the average load on the system can be expected to be 450 gallons per day or .31 gallons per minute. During the test, the system accepted 150 gallons in 65 minutes. This indicates an average effluent acceptance rate of approximately 2.3 gallons per minute at the time of the test. Because the house on the lot is occupied, we assume that the leach field was at its normal degree of saturation. We can therefore conclude that the system is disposing of effluent at an adequate rate for a 3 bedroom residence.
