To whom it may conceru: The existing 3 bedroom house is served by a private septic system and a commuhity well. The existing drainfield will not pass an adequacy at this time, and an upgrade must be performed prior to the sale of the house. Comments regarding the proposed upgrade are summarized as follows: 1, SOILS: Attached is a log which shows the soil profile, and the percolation test results. At a depth of 7.5 feet to 8.0 feet the percolation rate was 27 minute/inch. No groundwater, bedrock, or impermeable soil was encountered to a depth of 19 feet. 2. TRENCIt DESIGN: a. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic upgrade. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: The lot slopes down gently (approximately 2%) from east to west. In short, there are no slope concerns. I am unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. In accordance with your request, our investigation was conducted on May 5 and 6, 1977. A single test hole was placed on the lot as indicated on the attached location sketch. Drilling was accomplished util- izing a mobile drill rig B-50 mounted on a rubber-tired truck owned and operated by Denali Drilling. The purpose of the investigation was to provide soils data for estab- lishing feasibility of on-site disposal of sanitary wastes. The test hole was extended to a total depth of 20' below ground surface. No ground water table was encountered. The field percolation test indicated a percolation rate of 10.3 minutes per inch. This reflects average infiltration along the depth of the hole. The hole was soaked for 24 hours before the percolation test was made. If you have any questions on the above, please do not hesitate to call. Very truly yours, Earl D. Korynta, P.A,~~ Partner EDK:jp Attachments GORDON D. UNWIN, PE. LEO SCHEBEN, JR., RE.,L.S. EARL D. ENGINEER'S COMMENTS *MET SEPARATION DISTANCE AT TIME OF INSTALL. NOTE: DID NOT EVALUATE 1977 TRENCH. G. CERTIFICATION & STATEMENT OF INSPECTION BY ENGINEER As certified by my seal affixed hereto and as of the validation date shown below, I verify that my investigation, based on procedures outlined in the Certificate of On -Site Systems Approval Guidelines, indicates that the on -site water supply and/or wastewater disposal system appears to comply with applicable Municipal and State codes, ordinances, and regulations in effect at the time of installation, unless noted otherwise. Name of Firm Gamess Engineering Group, LTD. (GEG) Phone 907-337-6179 Engineer's Printed Name Jeffrey A. Gamess Date In conducting this evaluation, GEG provided an engineering evaluation of the well and/or septic system in accordance with the guidelines and regulations established by the Municipality of Anchorage and industry practices. The reported results describe the condition of the system/s on the date/s of the evaluation. Separation distances were measured to readily identifiable features. Hidden defects or encroachments may exist that were not identified during the evaluation. The operational life of all wells and septic systems depend upon a variety of variables, including (but not limited to) soil conditions, groundwater levels (that may fluctuate during the year), quality of construction (materials and workmanship), and the water usage of the family utilizing the system/s. These conditions can vary, and are outside the control of GEG. Satisfactory test results do not guarantee future performance of the systems; therefore, GEG makes no warranty (express or implied) regarding the future performance of the well or septic system. GEG makes no representation whether an altemative well or septic system can be installed on the property in the event either of the current systems fail to perform adequately in the future. The content of this report is for the sole benefit of the person/party that retained GEG to perform the evaluation. Reliance upon the information provided in this report by any other person or party (including subsequent property purchasers) is not authorized, nor will it confer any legal right whatsoever.
