RE: Adequacy Testing of On-Site Septic System
Lot 34, Block 4, Zodiac Manor
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Rambur:
On June 16, 1986, DATUM ENGINEERING & SURVEYING, INC., performed an
inspection and adequacy test of your well and on-site waste disposal system.
During the adequacy test a total of 906.5 gallons of water was introduced
into the standpipe between the septic tank outlet and leach field entrance.
Monitor floats were placed in the above standpipe, the septic tank standpipe
and also the foundation clean-out between the house and tank.
'[he 906.5 gallons of water was introduced over a period of 167 minutes.
The average introduction rate was 5.4 gallons per minute. At no time during
the testing was any rise noted in either the leach field standpipe level or
the tank level. The house is currently occupied therefore the system is at
its normal degree of saturation.
Based on four (4) bedrooms at 150 gallons per bedroom, the daily design
flow would be 600 gallons per day. Since we introduced 906.5 gallons with
no liquid level rise in the tank or leach field, we may conclude that the system
is adequate.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Rambur;
Beginning June 16, 1986, DAlUM ENGINEERING & SURVEYING, INC., began
the process of procuring a Health Authority Approval as part of an effort
to refinance or' sell your house. Testing of your well was part of the
work.
The first water tests from your well indicated the presence of coliform
and numerous bacteria.
On June 21, 1986, your well was shock chlorinated in an effort to
disinfect it; however, subsequent water tests still indicated coliforms
and other bacteria.
Another' shock chlorination was done the last week of June and again,
subsequent water tests still indicated coliforms and other bacteria.
~ On July 7th Dotten Drilling Company was hired to pump the bottom
of your well using a sand pump which was lowered into the well bottom.
Between June 21, 1986, and July 1, 1986, the_pi~less adaptor.
~rQ.~epai~e~, as frost heaving had caused a separation. We also understand
you repaired or K~l~d ~ .~Q~e~t_ive_f].Z%q~ on your water system. After
the well cleaning operation had been finished, the water was resampled
and tested by Chemical & Geological Laboratories. The test indicated
~.no coliform or bacteria present.
We recommend 'Chat you continue periodic testing of your well water
for a couple of months to 'insure the problem is solved. The data available
to us indicates the sand pump or other repairs removed the contamination.
Testing in the next couple of months will 'insure that it did.
