RE: GREEN FOREST BLOCK 2, LOT 7 - UPGRADE PERMIT WITH WAIVERS
The monitoring tube of the existing trench was repaired and a favorable adequacy test performed
on the crib and trench. We are therefore proceeding forward in obtaining a permit to upgrade the
aged septic tank with waivers. We respectfully request separation waivers from the existing well
to the proposed tank of approximately 66, well to crib of 71+/-, and well to trench of 93+/-.
Per MOA record documents, it appears the adjacent Lot 6 well is approximately 89 to the trench
on Lot 7 and therefore we request a waiver of 89. Also, the referenced well existed prior to the
existing public sewer main and manhole. We are therefore requesting waivers to the manhole
and sewer main of 57+.
Granting of these waivers are justifiable based on area nitrate levels, the attached recent nitrate
results, the elevation / location of the subject well to the proposed HDPE tank (improved tank
material), existing field and sewer manhole would prevent any possible effluent flowing directly
towards the well. The adjacent well on lot 6 is also up gradient from the septic system on Lot 7.
The area soils consist of slow percolating silty material with low probability of effluent
transference. AWWU record drawings state the sewer line was heat shrink (seal all joints) with
a similar waiver granted for Lot 1 to the west. These encroachments have existed since 1970
with with no known issues and the wells would almost sure to be free or no contamination
possible from any form of household sewage contamination from the septic system or sewer line.
Granting these waivers will not impact any of the neighboring properties and we respectfully
request that these waivers be granted. If you have any questions or require additional

Dear Hr. KauFman:
Ab your request ou~ office conducbed a percolation adequ'acy'
test on your existing septic syste~ at the above-referenced
location during the period August 26 and 27, 1980. You reported
that your septic system consists of 1000 Gallon SLeel septic tank
with a 17 ft. X 17 Ft. X 9 FL. seepage pie with 3 concrete rings
installed in 1970.
The septic ~ank had not been pumped prior to the percolation
kesk. Since the ~-bedroom house had been occupied up to the
time of the test, a normal degree of saturation ~i~hin the leach
Field i~ assumed.
[n accordance w~th ~he Anchorage Municipal ~de~ Chapter
~aste'~ater Disposal Regulations, any on-si~'e sewage disposal
system "shall have adequate capacity to prop~r~y dispose of the
maximum daily sewage Flow.." The maximum dai~.y Flow is computed
at 75 gallons per capita-day (gepd). Since 'A~he population of
dwellings shall be estimated at two persons per sleeping room~"
the maximum daily"sewage Flow For your ~-bedroom h~u~e is 450
gallons per day (gpd)
To test 'the soils absorption capaciky of your system an attempt
was made ED add 110 percent of the maximum daily Flow or 500 gallons
of clear ~ater in 50 gallon increments to the seepage pit. The
water was obtained From your on-site private well. '/he liquid
levels were monitored closely'to detect any backup in the septic
system.

On Day 1 an attempt was made to add 500 gallons of water to the
seepage ~. The seepage pit was filled to the top three times in
two hours wi~h~72 gallons of water. On Day 2_.~n attempt was made
to add 500 gall6n~ ~-~ater fo [~e--see~age pit~t a reduced flow
rate of approximately 1 gpm. The seepage pi~ ~as filled to the top
with 1~5 gallons in two hours. Two hours later the seepage pit
was filled to'the top again with 50 gallons, ~ total of 185 gallons
for Da~ 2.
After diseussing the results with you, the test was stopped at
the end of Day 2 w~th no indication of positive results.
