The contractor shall be responsi§le for obtaining any necessary underground ut~y locates. Unl~s specifically agreed otherwise, the property owner shall be responsible for fin~ grading ar~as subsequently depressed from soil s~ng. On all leachfi~d mound systems, the property owner sh~ be responsible for ensuring a satisfactory vegetation growth over the mounded area. Contractors insta~ing wast~ater d~posal systems must certified by the Municipal Health Depar~ent for system installations. Owners installing their own systems must receive prior approval from the Municipal Health Department. I. A foundation ~leanout shall be in6talled one to four fe~t from the building foundation. In the line between the tank and the leachfi~ld there shall be two adjacent eleanouts (unless an cf fluent pumping system exists within the septic tank). These el~anouts shall be located on undisturbed soit not more than 10' from the tank. The first el~anout, in line, sha~ be to clean toward the leachfield. The second ~l~anout shall be to ~an toward the septic tank. Final grading over the septic tank shall be such that a positive slope exists away from the septic tank. If the sidewalls of the excavation become sm~ed, they must be raked or scratched (roughed-up) before gravel (sewer rock} placement. 2. The bottom of the basal bed are~ as well as the top of the sand f~lter is to be within two ineh~s of level. 3. The distribution piping is to be of PV¢ (ASTM D3034 or equal). All joints are to be solvent cemented. 4. The side slopes of the top layer of the mound system must not be steeper than 33% ($:1). 5. The top of the mound shall be covered with a minimum of 6 inches of topsoil and veg~ed sufficiently to prevent erosion. The distribu£ion pipes are to be embedded in sewer rock. Care should be taken to backfd~ in such a way as to prevent damage to the piping system. Sdlt barrier mate~al mast be installed between the final gravel layer and the native soil backfill. Ensure the silt bar~ier covers the entire gravel surface before placing backfill. Backfill over the final gravel layer must not be less than twenty-four (24) inches. These inspections wi~ occur as follows: I. Thc first inspection must bg conducted after the excavation of ditches, pits, trenches, or §eds and before thg installation of any grav~. A septic tank may be set in place, but may not be backfilled before this inspe~ion. 2. The second inspection must be conducted after the placement of the silt barrier, gravel, distribution lines, standpipes, cleanout~, and insulation, but b~fore the placement of any other backfill. 3. The final inspection is to occar upon final grading of the property. Often there will be more than these 3 inspections required, especially with the installation of mul~ipl~ trenches, sand filters, pressurized distribution systems, etc. Th~, the inspecting engine~ ia to be contacted at least 24 hours prior to the stc~t of construction. If necessary, a pre-construction me,ting wi~ take place on-site. The inspecting engineer wdll not coordinate, dire~t or control in any way the contractor's a~tivities. The owner shall contract with the contractor to p~rform the work outlined in these specifications and plans and in accordance with the attached M.0.A. p~rmit. There will be no contractual a~rangement existing between the contractor and S & S Engineering.
