Per MOA records, the septic system serving the subject property was installed in 1986 and consists of a 1,500 gallon steel septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield. The drainfield was found to be almost surcharged on 6/15/2018 and the owner would like to upgrade the system. We are proposing that a new 2-compartment 1530 Infiltrator plastic septic tank and a 5-wide drainfield be installed. Two test holes have been excavated in the area for the proposed upgrade and the drainfield has been designed around the 30 foot radii of these test holes. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached logs which shows the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and the percolation test results. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: Little Campbell Creek is located to the south of the proposed drainfield. The 100 feet setback from the creek is to be flagged by a registered land surveyor to ensure the required separation distance to the proposed septic system will be met. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: Attached is the MOA contour map of the area. We have also taken elevations in the area of the proposed upgrade. As you can see on the attached cross-section detail drawing, the drainfield is proposed to be installed not quite parallel to the slope contours. The maximum depth from the highest original grade (south end) will be 12.5 feet deep and the shallowest point will be 7.1 feet deep on the north end. The design proposes a 6 foot separation distance to the bottom of the test holes and to the groundwater level found in test hole #2 on 8/7/2018. Based upon this information, we do not see any adverse effects with slope topography with the proposed design. 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: We request a 2 foot line waiver from the west property line to the proposed drainfield be granted. The neighboring septic system is over 10 feet from this lot line. We do not anticipate any adverse effects with the grating of this waiver. DRAINFIELD TO TEST HOLE WAIVER: We request a 0 foot waiver from the proposed drainfield to the test hole. Both test holes was backfilled with native material and materials were sorted during excavation to ensure soils were backfilled with same type of soils that were excavated.
