James Cross P.E Subject: Lot 7 Block 3 Van Subdivision Gentlemen; May 18, 2000 RECEIVED MAY 18 2000 Mu®apt rHe Heal & Human Sicaliof er ices The Three properties located on the original Lot 7 Block 3 of Van Subdivision are for sale. Sometime in the past the original Lot 7 was subdivided into three parts as shown. The tree bedroom duplex and the 2 bedroom single family residence on Lots 7A and 7B are connected to the public sewer system, but obtains water from individual wells. The original structure on Lot 7 is the one located on W1/2 of Lot 7. This structure is served by a well and what appears to be a cesspool. Public sewer is not available to the original residence according to AWWU. A proper septic system can be installed to serve this residence if well waivers to 75 feet versus the required 100 feet can be granted. ADEC has been approached with regard to the duplex, the wells serving the two single family residences are under your jurisdiction. If waivers can not be obtained, the less desirable solution of installing a holding tank becomes the only option. The stated policy of DHSS is to avoid holding tanks if at all possible. The cost of applying for waivers is substantial, more than $2,000, plus the cost of preparing the waiver request. My client would appreciate a pre -application statement from you regarding DHSS policies in this case. Yours T.
