Re: Lot 16B Boyle subdivision
Dear Mr. Cross:
Please find enclosed our proposed septic system design. Currently the two-bedroom house
located on Lot 16B, and the three-bedroom trailer located on the lot-line 16A and 16B is served
by the existing private well on Lot 16B. After the proposed new private well will be completed
on Lot 16A this existing well will serve only the two bedroom house and the proposed shop on
Lot 16B.
Also, please note the waste water from this two-bedroom residence is presently discharged into
the existing 1,500 gallon concrete tank and drain-field located on Lot 16A. Once the proposed
new septic system is completed ou Lot 16B, it will serve only the existing two-bedroom residence
and the proposed shop located on Lot 16B.
The proposed water and septic system should have little or no effect on adjacent systems. The
neighboring septic systems are over 100 feet from the proposed drain-field. The reserve space is
adequate according our test holes rdsults.
The drain-field and the septic tank will be mounded,' top-soiled and seeded to provide positive
drainage away from the system. All separation distances from the well and the septic system meet
the MOA requirements.
If you have any questions, please call me at 344-4108, or 440-9271.
Sincerely,
Sandor Manyoky,/F.E.

SYSTEM DESIGN SPECIFICATIONS
LOT 16B BOYLE SUBDIVISION
ON-SITE SEWER SYSTEM DESIGN
1. This design is for a two-bedroom single family residence and a proposed shop (50 feet
by 40 feet) using an absorption bed with 0.5 feet of gravel and gravity distribution.
2. A two- feet deep sand filter will be constructed under the absorption bed in order to
comply with the MOA requirement of a four-feet separation between the drain-field and
groundwater.
3. The soils loading rate is 0.5 gallons/SF/day. 3 bedrooms X 150 gpd/0.5gpd/SF=900 SF
absorption area required.. 900SF/15SF/LF= 60 feet long bed required.
4. All materials, construction methods and required inspections should follow MOA rules
and State of Alaska D.E.C. regulations. The contractor is responsible for obtaining all
required permits. The contractor is responsible for notifying the engineer and the MOA at
least twenty-four hours in advance of all inspections needed.
5. The contractor will insure that no additions or changes have been made to the existing
well and septic systems on the adjacent lots prior to the time of construction of this
system. If any changes to those systems have occurred, the engineer should be
immediately notified for review and possible changes as necessary.
6. The overburden will be removed to the underlying silty sand (SM) material under any
portion of the sand filter.
7. The lot slopes down to the north and west. The installation of the bed will have little or
no effect on the surface drainage, ground water, or the adjacent systems in the area.
8. The septic system should be properly maintained including septic tank inspection and
pumping on an annual basis.
9. We recommend that no garbage disposal be installed and low phosphate biodegradable
detergents be used.
