Holding Tank Specifications
1. The scope of the proiect is the installation o 3000~. lion holding tank at the
location shown on the site plan. A soil absorption s~ et~m is not, practical on this lot due
to the fact that it is subject to seasonal flooding during breakup.
2, All material specifications and construction practices shall be in conformance with
M.O.A require ments,
3. The holding tank shall be fabricated of 3/16" steel with bituminous coating inside
and out, and shall be equipped with a watertight manhole cover and separate 4",diameter
access pipes for pumping and alarm float installation.
4. The holding tank shall be set level and buried such that the top of the tank is
between 5 and 6 feet. below the final ground surface. The finished surface shall be
graded to ensure surface drainage flows away from the holding tank, The waste line
leading into the holding tank shall be connected in at the existing foundation cleanout.
5, An approved alarm float shall be installed in the holding tank and set to trigger an
audible and visible alarm mounted inside the building when ,the remaining capacity
inside the tank is 500 gallons or less.
6. The existing septic tank shall be pumped and either filled with soil or crushed and
buried on site. The existing trench shall be abandoned with the monitor tube removed.
7. One inspection will be required during construction after the tank is set and the
alarm box mounted with the float properly adjusted for elevation, but prior to backfill
over the tank.

TEST PROCEDURE:
System was inspected on December 7,1983. Sump
6 ft. deep with 43 inches of liquid.
The Jet Aeration Unit had been removed.
Tank was 7.5 ft. deep with 63 inches of liquid.
The tank was obviously surcharged.
Owner indicated that the residents used a
large volume of water and that no overflow or
problems had been experienced. Owner was
requested to limit the water usage prior to
test. Test was conducted on December 12. At
that time the waterlevel was down to 56-
inches in the tank, and 19 :inches in the
cleanout. Water was added at a steady rate of
5 gallons per minute for 40 minutes. During
that time the waterlevel in the tank rose 7
inches. Filling was stopped and the
percolation rate measured. In one and a
half hour 63 gallons were asbsorbed. Extended
to a 24 hour period this is more than 1000
gallons. The Municipal Requirement is 150
gal. per bedroom. This system surpasses the

TEST RESULT
Municipal Requirement for a four-bedroom
house.
This system was obviously surcharged and[ does
not have the reserve capacity required by
the Municipal Code. Since the absorption rate
surpassed the requirement by a large margin
the lack of reserve capacity may have been
caused by the heavy hydraulic load the system
has been experiencing.

following services during the term of the agreement:
Canole's Concrete Products will inspect the JET plant at the above address twice a year. These inspections
will include:
PLANT SERVICE
· Removal of aeration unit, inspection, adjustment, cleaning of aerator's shaft, field service of aeration
unit, if needed, and re-installation.
· Inspection, cleaning, and adjustment, if necessary of surface skimmer and/or tube setter.
· Examination of final effluent for color and odor, if there is access al time of inspection.
· Check of discharge point and wet weather overflow for blockage (if applicable).
· Inspection and adjustment of control panel setting and overload protection, if there is access at time
of inspection.
® Inspection for sludge accumulation with arrangements for removal when build-up warrants removal.
Canole's Concrete Products further agrees to the following:
EMERGENCY SERVICE
· There will be no charge for emergency service calls.
· There will be no service or labor charges for removal or re-installatlon of aerator, if required.
· If improper operation cannot be corrected at time of service, homeowner will be notified immediately
and given estimated date of correction.
· If improper operation cannot be corrected at time of service, the' Department of 'Environmental Quality,
GAAB, will also be notified.
· If necessary, the entire mechanical unit or any pa.r, ts will be replaced according to the manufacturer's
warranty program.
Freight charges to the factory or to an unauthorized repair station and aerator repair charges are not
covered under this agreement.

REF: Lot 6 Block 5 Granite View Subdivision Separation Waiver Request
On October 28, 1994, a wavier was issued on the referenced lot from the well to
the proposed sewer main line and manhole. In conformance with the
construction plans as well as the special conditions of the wavier the sewer
manhole was constructed in conformance with M.A.S.S. Detail 50-23, Special
Manhole Detail (inside protective well radius). The sewer main was constructed
of ductile iron and wrapped with a layer of polyethylene encasement material 9
mis. thick and conforming to ANSI/AWWU C105/A21.5. All joints were shrink
wrapped using Raychem 60B with closure strip.
At the completion of the construction an as-built survey was conducted which
showed that the separation distance had changed for Lot 6 as follows:

Based on the as-built information we are requesting a modification of the

This request is for a waiver of the separation distance between a private well and a public
sewer line and manhole for the above referenced property.
We are proposing to extend the public sewer main from E. 88th Avenue 171' along North
Circle and install a Type A manhole in the standard utility alignment with the manhole placed
10' off of the centerline. There are two wells which are situated within approximately 20 feet of
the right-of-way for North Circle. The sewer main and the manhole will both fall within the
protective radii of both wells.
As noted on the design plans submitted, the construction shall meet the requirements of the
M.A.S.S. Detail 50-23, Special manhole detail (inside protective well radius). All ductile iron
pipe and appurtenances shall be wrapped with a layer of polyethylene encasement material 9
mi. thick and conforming to ANSI/AWWU C105/A21.5. In addition, all pipe joints shall be
shrink-wrapped leaving a one foot lap onto pipe using Raychem 60B with closure strip of
equivalent.
In order to help expedite the process we have included letters of non-objection for your
review.
