The drainfield is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to utilize the existing 1250-gallon steel septic tank and install a new deep trench type drainfield. One testhole was excavated on the property and the drainfield is design within in the 30-foot radius. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See attached 2018 soil log which shows, soil classification, percolation test and groundwater monitoring. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface water concerns. 4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing, there are no topography concerns. 5. WAIVER: As can be seen on the attached design drawing, the proposed drainfield will be approximately 1-2 feet from the west lot line. Therefore, we are requesting that your department issue a variance of zero feet. The proposed drainfield will not encroach on an adjacent well/or septic system. In short, we do not foresee any issue with granting this waiver. We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation and/or waivers would have on adjacent wells or septic systems. Based on the information contained in "-your.June 1, 1984 letter and our phone tonversation on June 5, it appears that the 95 ft separation distance between the well and.the septic tank is ad~4uate to prevent contamination of the well. As you pointed'out in your letter, the'well log indicates that layers of hardpan'and clay would provide protection of the water source, should con- tamination enter the vicinity of the well. Also, you indicated verbally that a visual inspection of the property and adjacent-properties revealed no source of potential contamination within 100 feet of the Well, other than the septic tank on the existing property (95 ft separation). Based on the above information, and on the recent upgrade of the waste- water disposal field by construction of a trench, the request for waiver of the 100 feet separation distance to 95 feet is hereby approved.
