ARM Septic Services, LLC recently checked the monitoring tubes in the drainfield and found them to be dry. In order to simplify the operation and maintenance of the system, we are proposing that this unit be permanently configured as a CAT II system. Our justifications are as follows: According to Robert A. Shafer, P.E.'s 2008 soil log, the receiving soil has a percolation rate of <1 minute per inch. Given this percolation rate, a 4.0 gpd/sq.ft. application rate is required for a Cat II system. The home has 3 bedrooms, so 112.5 sq./ft. of absorption area is required for a CAT II effluent (450 gpd / 4.0). The existing 2008 drainfield has 155 sq./ft. of absorption area. We would also like to note that there is 2 foot of MOA filter sand below the drainrock. The approved On-site Wastewater Inspection Report stamped and signed on 5/5/2009 shows the soil rating to be 3.0 gpd/sq.ft, so the Inspection Report should not need to be amended. At this time. we request that your department approve a CAT II configuration to be used at the referenced property. Upon your concurrence, we will have ARM Septic Service, LLC., go to the property rrp,ve the actuator from the ball valve or leave the valve in the open position, and -have the�rrlpe aCAT II sticker on the control panel. It is requested that you issue a permit to install a new Quantics AeroCell treatment septic system to serve the existing two bedroom residence on the referenced property. The existing drainfield is located on a steep slope adjacent to the road RON. There is no evidence that effluent has ever surface on the slope from the existing system. Therefore; request you issue a waiver to allow the new drainfield to be located less than 50 feet from a slope >25%. The existing drainfield will lie between the new drainficld and the existing slope. It is also requested that you allow the Quanics AeroCell treatment system to be located a distance of 75 feet from the existing well. This waiver is justified based upon the quality of the effluent thru the advanced treatment system. A test hole was excavated and a percolation test performed. The approximate location of the test hole is located on the attached site plan. At the time of excavation, water was not found. After seven days of monitoring, no ground water was found. We do not anticipate any adverse effects on neighboring wells, septic systems, reserve areas or drainage patterns by the installation of the proposed septic system.
