The proposed system will serve a 3-bedroom single-family residence. The lot is currently undeveloped. A soils log, site plan, design drawings and construction specifications are enclosed for your review. Several test holes were excavated on lot 16 block 2 Grecian Hills on September 23, 2008. Generally speaking we found hard silt beneath the overlying organics to a depth of 9 feet. The organic layer varied in depth from ½ a foot to 2 'A feet. Ground water seeps were observed at depths varying from 3 to 6 feet. Two test holes were logged (conditions in the un-logged excavations were similar to those presented) and percolation test were conducted immediately beneath the organic layer. Ground water monitor tubes were installed and monitoring will continue though September 30e", 2008. The total depth of the test holes were 9 feet. Percolation rates of 192 minutes to the inch and 480 mtn/in were recorded. The minimum acceptable percolation rate for the installation ora sub surface drain field with advanced treatment is 120 rain/in. The soils identified are not suitable for the construction ora septic system. The developers of lot 16 also own lot 15 and an area suitable for the installation of a subsurface drain field was located along the common property line. Our proposal includes the creation of an ingress/egress easement on lot 15 for the subsurface drain field and a reserve site to serve lot 16. Design Cales: Groundwater at 7 feet below ground surface (5/13/2009) Use 1250 gallon Advantex tank, AX20 treatment unit Soil Rating. From Testhole 5/28/1982 2 rain/in = 6 gal per sq.f~day Design application rate 4 gpd/sq, ff. No. of Bedrooms 3 Required Area per Bedroom: 150/4 =37.5 sq.ft. Total area required: 37.5 x 3 = 112.5 sqft System: We are proposing a 1250 gallon Advantex tank. AX 20 treatment Unit and shallow trench absorption field. The absorption field will be 20 feet long and 5 feet wide and contain 2.0 feet (effective) of sewer rock. 203 West 15~ Avenue Suite 203, Anchorage, AK 99501, Phone: (907) 279-3916 Fax: (866) 354-1597, Lspurkland~gci.net I Suils: A test hole w~ excavated on May 13,2005. See the at~ched soil logs. Ground water w~ monitored for through May 24, 2005. Ground water was at a depth of 7 feet. Surface Water: Surface water was observed along Lakona Drive. All components of the septic system will be located more than 100 feet from this area. Topography: The lot slopes down to the south at a slopes of 15% to 35%. The absorption field will be installed perpendicular to the existing grade Waivers: We are requesting a waiver of the slope set back distance from grades steeper than 25%. The existing drain field 35 feet up gradient from a slope of approximately 35 %. Included with this submittal is a profile drawing showing the drain field and the existing grades. A 35 foot set back will provide sufficient protection against the day lighting of septic system effluent. The installation ofthis septic system will not prevent wells and septic systems from being installed on the adjacent lots. The proposed septic system will not change the general slope ofthe area. Ponding and/or concentration of surface runoff will not result from this installation. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at 279-3916.
