Box 196650 Anchorage, AK 99519-6650 Subject: Lot 2, Autumn Ridge Subdivision Separation Distance Waiver Absorption Trench to Lot Line Dear On Site Services Engineer: The surface area on Lot 2, Autumn Ridge Subdivision is limited for an absorption site by the location of the well, the house and the driveway. The contractor came within 6' of the west lot line during construction of the absorption trenches. A waiver is therefore required. The absorption trenches will not conflict with wells or septic systems on any lots in the area. All separation distances can be met from wells, surface water and septic systems in the area. We therefore recommend the lot line waiver be issued to 6' from the west lot line. Sincerely, Michael E. Anderson, P.E. BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, AK 99524 522-7773 677-7766 FAX MEMORANDUM DATE: April 14, 2009 TO: Debbie FROM: Mike Anderson, P.E. SUBJECT: LotX, Autumn Ridge Subdivision Well and Septic System Permit Modifications We have made the following changes to the permit application for the well and septic system for Lot Autumn Ridge Subdivision: 1. Additional drainage arrows have been added to the Site Plan. The new absorption trenches will be placed parallel to the existing slope. The topography in the area is very flat with no slopes in excess of 5% within 100' of the new septic system. 2. Both the Site Plan and the Area Map agree as to the location of the well, septic system and house. 3. The well logs for Lots 1 and 3 are attached which show no bedrock from the surface to 260' below. Soil formations encountered are all identified as gravelly silt or silty gravel indicating no impermeable layers were encountered. We are confident no bedrock occurs on Lot 2 in the area of the proposed absorption system or alternate site. We are also confident no impermeable soil layers are present. 4. No groundwater has developed in the test hole since it was originally excavated 5 days ago. We are confident no groundwater will develop over the next two days. We will leave the monitor tube in place to verify the absence of groundwater for the full 7 day monitoring period and request approval to continue with construction of the septic system at our own risk. ANDERSON ENGINEERING P.O. BOX 240773 ANCHORAGE, AK 99524 522-7773 677-7766 FAX March 23, 2009 Municipality of Anchorage Development Services Department On -Site Water and Wastewater Program 4700 South Bragaw Street Anchorage, AK 99519-6650 Subject: Lot 2, Autumn Ridge Subdivision Septic System Design and Permit Application Impacts to Adjacent Properties Dear Onsite Services Engineer: The owner of Lot 2, Autumn Ridge Subdivision intends to construct a new six -bedroom home on the lot. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the construction of a new well and septic system to accommodate the home. The attached Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed well and septic system along with the alternate site. Also identified on the plans are the existing wells on the surrounding lots and in the area and septic systems on surrounding lots. No conflicts exist between the proposed septic system and well or septic systems and wells on adjacent lots. Drainage arrows are shown on the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow on the lot. The drainage pattern will not be changed as a result of this project. The test holes placed on the lot in the area of the absorption trenches and alternate site indicate silty sand with gravel (SM/GM). The percolation rate of the soil was determined to be 20-30 minutes per inch. No groundwater was found during the placement of the test holes and none was noted during the monitoring period. An application rate of .6 gallons per day per square foot was used in the design of the absorption system. We are proposing to place a new 2,000 -gallon septic tank and 2- 47' long by 3' wide by 8' effective depth absorption trenches to treat and dispose of the effluent generated in the house. The elevation of the distributio line in the absorption trench will be 8' below the surface and the total depth will be A flow splitter valve will be placed to insure even flow to each trench. The septic ank will be placed low enough to collect sewage from the basement level. The tank must be constructed of 3/16" thick steel to withstand the cover over the tank. ,/6' JA r' 14 - Two test holes were placed on the lot during the subdivision process. The location of the new and alternate absorption sites are not entirely covered by the 30' radii from the test holes. The majority of the test holes placed in the subdivision however indicate similar soils. Most with faster percolation rates than those shown on the attached test Lot 2, Autumn Ridge Subdivision March 23, 2009 Page Two hole logs. Additional test holes will be placed during construction to verify soils conditions in the area of the absorption sites. Results will be forwarded with the certified as built after construction has been completed. The ground surface on the lot in the area of the septic system slopes to the south at a shallow grade with some cross sloping from the east. The new trenches will be constructed parallel with the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. The new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from all wells and any surface water and 10' the proposed and existing water services in the area. If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements apply: The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future. 3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area. 4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained. Sincerely, A Michael E. Anderson, P.E.
