On August 11, water was added to the tank at a steady rate of 8 gal. per min. 400 gallons was added causing the liquid level in the tank to increase from 32 inches to 39. Within 45 min. after this water had'been added the liquid level was down to 32 inches again. During the test, the liquid level in the septic tank was monitored as water was added to the system. The following table summarizes the measurements. The system in question accepted 75.6 gallons in 52 minutes, or 1.45 gallons per minute during the test, without a rise in liquid level. Since the house on the property is occupied, we assume that the leach field is at its normal degree of saturation.
