Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer:
The owner of Lot 28, Chugach Park View Subdivision intends to construct a new four-
bedroom home on the lot. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the
construction of a new well and septic system to accommodate the home. The attached
Site Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the
proposed well and septic system along with the alternate site. Streams along with the
100' setbacks are also shown on the plan. No existing wells or septic systems are
closer than 100' from the proposed well or septic system. Drainage arrows are shown
on the site plan showing the grade and direction of flow on the lot. The drainage
pattern will not be changed as a result of this project.
The test hole placed on the lot during the subdivision phase in the area of the
absorption trench and alternate site indicated poorly graded gravel with some silt (GP).
The percolation rate of the soil was determined to be less than 1 minute per inch. No
groundwater was found during the placement of the test holes and was apparently
monitored at 13' below the surface on September 24, 2003. A recent check of the
monitor tube indicated water at 9.5' below the surface. An application rate of 1.0
gallons per day per square foot was used in the design of the absorption system as
mandated by the City for soils with percolation rates less than 1 minute per inch. We
are proposing to place a new 1,500 -gallon STEP tank and a 60' long by 5' wide by 4'
effective depth absorption trench to treat and dispose of the effluent generated in the
house. The elevation of the distribution line in the absorption trench will be 1' below the
surface and the total depth will be 5'. A minimum of 3' of fill or 2" of insulation and 2' of
fill will be placed over the absorption trenches and 4' over the STEP tank.
The ground surface on the lot in the area of the absorption trenches slopes to the
Lot 28, Chugach Park View Subdivision

southeast at a grade approximating 2%. The new trench will be constructed parallel
with the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal requirements. The
new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from all wells and any surface
water and 10' from the proposed and existing water services in the area. The house
and STEP tank will be lower than the absorption trenches with the septic effluent
pumped to the absorption area through a 1.25" PVC line.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:
1. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells
in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing
septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve
space, either surface or subsurface, on any lots located in the area.
4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage
patterns in the area. The current drainage pattern will be maintained.
Sincerely,
Michael E. Anderson, P.E.

Septic System Design and Permit Application
Impacts to Adjacent Properties
Dear Onsite Services Engineer
The permit to construct the septic system to serve this property was issued on January
14, 2013. The permit has since expired and must be renewed. All of the information
furnished below and submitted with the original permit application remains true. We
hereby request the permit be renewed for another year.
The owner of Lot 28, Chugach Park View Subdivision intends to construct a new four-
bedroom home on the lot at some time in the future. He has already constructed a
garage with one bedroom. We are therefore requesting a permit be issued for the
construction of a new septic system to accommodate the garage. The attached Site
Plan and backup documentation identify the location and configuration of the proposed
septic system along with the alternate site. Streams along with the 100' setbacks are
also shown on the plan. No existing wells or septic systems are closer than 100' from
the proposed septic system. Drainage arrows are shown on the site plan showing the
grade and direction of flow on the lot. The drainage pattern will not be changed as a
result of this project.
The test hole placed on the lot in the area of the absorption trench and alternate site
indicated poorly graded gravel with some silt (GP). The percolation rate of the soil was
determined to be 2 minutes per inch. Groundwater was found during the placement of
the test hole at 7' below the surface and remained at that elevation during the
monitoring period. An application rate of 1.2 gallons per day per square foot was used
in the design of the absorption system. We are proposing to place a new 1,250 -gallon
STEP tank and a 25' long by 5' wide by .5' effective depth absorption trench to treat
and dispose of the effluent generated in the house. The elevation of the distribution
line in the absorption trench will be 1' below the surface and the total depth will be 1.5'.

A minimum of 3' of fill or 2" of insulation and 2' of fill will be placed over the absorption
trenches and 4' over the STEP tank.
The ground surface on the lot in the area of the absorption trenches slopes to the
southeast at a grade approximating 2%. The new trench will be constructed parallel
with the contours of the slope as much as possible in conformance with Municipal
requirements. The new septic system will be constructed a minimum of 100' from all
wells and any surface water and 10' from the proposed and existing water services in
the area. The garage and STEP tank will be lower than the absorption trenches with
the septic effluent pumped to the absorption area through a 1.25" PVC line.
If the system is constructed in accordance with our design the following statements
apply:
The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on the wells

2. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on existing
septic systems in the area or those to be constructed in the future.
3. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on reserve

4. The system, if constructed as designed, will have no adverse impact on drainage
