Ref: Proposed Initial Septic for Park Place; Lot 8A,
To whom it may concern:
The subject lot is currently vacant and the homeowner is proposing to construct a 4 bedroom house on it.
We are proposing to drill a private well and install a septic system serve the proposed residence. We are
proposing to install a 1250 gallon septic tank and a deep trench type drainfield. Two test holes were
excavated on the property. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of test hole #2.
Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows:
1. SOILS: See the attached soil logs which show the soil classifications, groundwater monitoring, and
the percolation test results.
2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications.
3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system.
4. TOPOGRAPHY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the average topography below the
drainfield is 5-15%.
5. WAIVER REQUIREMENT FOR SAND FILTER: We are requesting to use the native material
classified as sand as the sand filter for the deep trench type drainfield.
We are unaware.,of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.

To whom it may concern:
We are proposing to make the following revision to the aforementioned design:
1. DRAINFIELD EFFECTIVE: The drainfield has been revised and we are propsing to have 7.5' of
effective in the dual trenches rather then 6.5'. This is to shorten the drainfields length so that we can
maximize our separation distance from the surface water to the south.
2. SURFACE WATER WAIVER: We are requesting an 80 feet waiver from the proposed drainfields
to the nearest surface water. Justifications for this waiver are:
· The surface water is located to the south of the drainfields and the natural topography of the lot runs
east to west. If the drainfields were to daylight out, wastewater would not flow towards the surface
water. See the attached topography drawing.
· The path of travel of any potential daylighting wastewater would be over 100 feet before it reached the
surface water. If this is not the case, during the septic installation, berms will be constructed to insure
that the path will be 100 feet or greater.
· Drainfields shall be laid out and constructed in such a fashion as to provide the maximum distance
possible from the surface water to the drainfield.
We are unaware of any adverse impacts this installation would have on adjacent wells or septic systems.

After meeting with Rob, Matt, and Deb today to discuss possible ways to permit the septic system design, I had a
discussion with my direct supervisor, Ross Noffsinger, regarding the possibility of issuing a waiver to surface water using a
conventional septic system and not requiring a Category III Advanced Wastewater System (AWWTS). Given the
characteristics of the subject property and proposed design, Ross and I both agree that a waiver to surface water can be
issued using a conventional septic system similar to the design that was permitted on 6/25/2010, but with minor
adjustments to maximize the separation distance.

On October 25, 2010, I preformed watercourse mapping for parcel # 02009213 on Ransom Ridge Rd., and parcel #
02009295 on St. James Cir. While on site, I located and mapped one stream feature entering and crossing the target
parcels (shown on the attached figure). The feature meets MOA criteria for a stream feature, and has been mapped as
such in WMS mapping archives (archived in WMS files as project '10RansomRidge'). The stream has a well defined
channel with distinct bed and bank structures from upstream of GPS point 1, downstream to GPS point 13. At the time of
my inspection, the majority of the stream flow was infiltrating into the ground upstream of or near GPS point 13.
Downstream of GPS point 13, though a continuous surface channel is not present across portions of parcel # 02009295,
there is a clearly defined topographic flow path that is hydrologically connected to downstream stream features and/or
receiving waters, meeting the MOA definition of a spatially intermittent stream feature. The stream, along its entire
alignment, as shown on the attached figure, is subject to all codes and regulation regarding stream features (25' setback,
etc).
Watercourse mapping completed for this project is shown graphically in attached map. In addition, digital line and point
data and GPS location data from these mapping efforts are available from WMS. These data are archived as
geographically projected data files and are suitable for use in showing positions of stream and major drainageway features
for general planning-level documents and maps. Data are available in ESRl-format shapefiles and can be imported as
planimetrically-correct line and point features into a projected AutoCAD drawing environment. However, where stream
locations indicated by these data are in error or are not sufficiently accurate for permitting or other purposes, the owner is
responsible for providing more precise location surveys and submitting these new data to WMS for review and approval.
