The septic system is in a state of failure and needs to be upgraded. We are proposing to install dual 5 -wide trench type drainfields. Two test holes were excavated on the property by Lars E. Spurkland P.E. The drainfield will be designed around the 30 foot radius of these test holes. Comments regarding the design are summarized as follows: 1. SOILS: See the attached log which shows the soil classifications and the percolation test results. Groundwater monitoring was done on 5/22/2008 and both of Mr. Spurklands test holes were dry. 2. DRAINFIELD DESIGN: See attached design drawing for drainfield specifications. 3. SURFACE WATERS: There are no surface waters within 100 feet of the proposed septic system. 4. TOPOGRAPIIY: As can be seen on the attached design drawing the average topography within 50 feet of the drainfield is flat. 5. LOT LINE WAIVER: We are requesting a 5 foot lot line waiver from the north and west property line to the proposed drainfield. There is no septic system within 10 feet of these property lines on the adjacent Tots. We are unaware of any adverse impacts with the granting of this waiver would create. On April 22, 1999 we dug a testhole for the proposed system. The results of this test is attached. The general slope of this lot is from cast to west at a grade of approximately 1-2% for the property. The original test log is on file at DHHS. We propose to install a 5' wide shallow trench. The soils were consistent throughout the test. There are no public or private wells within 200' of our proposed system location except as noted.
