The lot size is 0.38 acres, typical for the area and the lot to the south is vacant. The original 1984 permit was not finished, therefore it will be documented and asbuilted under this new permit. A new test hole will be completed during tank replacement, using a drill rig to verify ground water, soils and the possibility of bedrock. The existing tank has over 10 feet of cover, therefore a 10 gage tank will be used for the extra loading. An existing waiver (P218453) from the ADEC doesn't need to be updated, per Bill Rieth with the ADEC. Updated water samples were submitted with my request. The Department has completed Its review of the submitted Information which Included a well flow test and an engineered as -built diagram of the water system. Based upon this review it appears that the previous concerns outlined by this Department have been adequately addressed. The submitted well flow test verifies that tl:n system will meet both the peak and daily demand requirements of this water system. Therefore, in accordance with State Drinking Water Regulations (18 AAC 80.300) operational approval of the class "C" well is granted subject to the following comments and conditions: 1. The requested horizontal separation distance waivers between the well on Lot 3 and the cn-site wastewater disposal systems on Lot 2 (90 feet) and Lot 3 (105 feet) Is granted provided that no expansion of the residences which increases the number of bedrooms occurs. 2. This water system has been assigned pubic water system identification number (PWSID no.) 218453. Please reference this number when submitting future water sampes so that this water system may be properly credited. White routine sampling is not required for class "C" public water systems, annual sampling for coliform bacteria and nitrate is recommend. This approval does not imply the granting of addtional authorizations nor does it obligate any other state, federal, or local regulatory bodl• to grant required authorizations. Health & Human Services A septic system was installed on this lot in 1984 under permit # 840533. The As Built was rejected and the system disapproved on 11/26/85, with the note that the system was installed too deep. The residence has been vacant for most of the time, with a minimal use of the system. It was tested on November 18, 1995 and found to pass the adequacy test. The property is for sale and the owner wants to obtain a HAA for the septic system. Beside the fact that the system was disapproved, the actual size of the bed is questionable. The As Bdilt shows the bed to be 1365 square feet; but I am at a loss to how this number was arrived at. There is a note on the As Built that the system was over sized. I propose to drill a testhole to a total depth of 20 feet adjacent to the bed to verify soil conditions and absence of groundwater/ impermeable layers. Before doing this I want to know if there are additional problems with granting a HAA for this property.
